The Geekbench benchmarking tool is not only available for Apple’s desktop operating system macOS, but also in versions for iOS, Android, Windows and Linux – especially on the Mac, however, the load test has established itself as a tool that can also be used for brand new Macs to quickly find comparable values results that compare the performance of new Apple computers with machines already available.

Now available in version 6

Today, Geekbench released Issue 6 and modernizes the Stress Tests performed to simulate the performance of the machines under realistic daily loads. Several new workloads have been integrated into Geekbench 6 and existing ones have been reworked, for example to simulate background blur in video calls, the use of filters on social media platforms or object recognition in photos.

The data sets that Geekbench uses for the individual stress tests have also been updated by the creators of software studio Primate Labs to include higher resolution photos, larger maps and more complex documents for the browser tests.

With Geekbench, different Macs can be compared with each other, but thanks to identical test environments, Apple and Samsung laptops or smartphones can also be compared with each other.

In addition to performance tests under realistic daily load, Geekbench also provides the output of maximum performance values ​​for the CPU and GPU, which can be shared online.

Geekbench 6 and Geekbench 6 Pro

Geekbench 6 is available for free for home users. The Pro version of the app will cost you the regular $99, but it’s a 20 percent introductory price of $79 through the end of the month.
