Since its acquisition by the technology group in 2018, the CORSAIR subsidiary Elgato has fully specialized in streamer equipment. Today Elgato announced the launch of a new webcam with high-end specs.
In addition to the Facecam, which has been available for a long time, Elgato now also offers the Facecam Pro, which can deliver 60 frames per second even at high 4K resolutions and can deliver h.264 encoding. 2160p60, 2160p30, 1080p60, 1080p30, 720p60 and 720p30 recordings are supported.
Not a lightweight
Connected to the computer via USB-C, the Facecam Pro is not the most compact webcam on the market and relatively thick with a weight of 240 grams (without bracket!) and dimensions of 116 mm x 38 mm x 79 mm.
The Facecam Pro, which costs 349.99 euros, has an angle of view of 90°, an angle of view of 21 mm and an aperture of f/2.0.
Elgato presents the Facecam Pro on this special page and is aimed at content creators who want to produce videos in ultra high definition “without complicated camera settings”.
Camera Hub App Configured
The provider emphasizes that the new Facecam Pro understands many software tricks that should shine in everyday use of the camera. The webcam has automatic noise reduction and direct light correction, which enhance the video material when needed, and can directly convert the raw 4K60 signal into 1080p60 videos, which the manufacturer says should result in significantly better 1080p videos than the available videos. a dedicated 1080p webcam.
Software-wise, the Facecam Pro is accompanied by the Elgato Caption Hub, which allows the configuration of field of view, exposure and white balance and the application of cinema effects (pan, tilt and zoom) without pixelation in the image.
The Facecam Pro is now available at specialty stores. The regular Facecam with 1080p60 is currently available for 129.99 euros.
