It has been about 5 months since we last had an update, March 2023.

We will talk about were we have come after 6 years in business, How I have been on a mission rediscovering my roots as an artist. How Adept Creative is expanding our horizons? Along with music and motion graphics.

Rediscovering our roots

My first introduction to art was through comic books. I learned anatomy and composition from drawing what I saw in the panels and on the covers. Later and as I got deeper into music I took an interest in drawing album covers and music posters. In college I started studying advertisements.

It’s hard to believe but while attending university we were still using mostly traditional methods pens, markers, and gouache to design advertisements for print. The amount of instruction on digital design products such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop or Indesign were very limited. Luckily I had been familiarizing myself with Adobe tools since high school.

Now at Adept Creative we typically design with brand and business in mind and we typically deliver digital assets. However much of my personal creative workflow and many of my teammates use traditional methods of design, such as sketching, during the early stages of a project. Something I have really enjoyed is returning to some more traditional tools such as pen and ink, along with some markers and water color.

There is something to gain from using tradition tools that not only simplify but also slow the process down. Lately we have been using an augmented comic book work flow of story boarding, sketching, inking/vectorizing, and then coloring. We have used this method on a number of projects over the years. Most recently with a series of band touring posters and even a couple animation projects.

Celebrating 6 years in business

This August marks 6 years in business as a brand marketing agency. We started with offices in libraries and coffee shops, then an crowed office in a spare bedroom, now we have offices and studio space in the western reserve building in downtown Cleveland, Ohio.

I am extremely proud of what I have achieved and would like to thank all of my family, friends and clients that have made this dream possible.

Expanding our horizons

I said a year ago I was going to invest in building out Adept Creative’s video production capabilities. We might not have the newest black magic 8k or red V raptor camera, both of which cost between $25,000 – $50,000. We do have equipment that is more than capable of delivering run and gun video content, basic interviews/testimonials, walkthroughs even advertisements. Plus our staff are experts in developing and editing professional engaging content that aligns with your brand and business goals. I hope to continue to expand our video production department and work with larger scale project over the next few years.

Music and Motion

Over the last two years we have seen an increase in demand for motion graphics. Motion graphics are a great way to stand out from all the static in a social media feed and can make your videos look more professional. More recently we have had request to compose original music for a couple video production and motion graphic projects.

Before Adept Creative I was a professional musician. I have written, produced or performed as a session guitar player for numerous albums and more then 2,000 live performances over my 25 years of being an active musician. I had always kept the those two worlds separate, until recently.

A recent opportunity allowed me to take my knowledge of professional sports production, music production and motion design; combining to delievering stunning visual graphics for a national touring band’s LED backdrop. This is an exciting project to be apart of and I hope this is the first of many projects of this type.
