Kawasaki Patents Ninja 7 Hybrid and Z E-1 in India

Kawasaki has recently patented two cutting-edge motorcycles in India, the new Ninja 7 Hybrid and the company’s first all-electric production bike, the Z E-1

Kawasaki’s Vision for the Indian Market

Kawasaki’s strategic move involves catering to a niche audience, who are not afraid to invest in premium and innovative offerings.

With the recent launches of the Ninja 500 and its cruiser sibling, Eliminator, Kawasaki has already set the stage for an extended portfolio in India.

The potential addition of the Ninja 7 Hybrid and Z E-1 further demonstrates Team Green’s commitment to providing customers with a diverse range of choices.

The Ninja 7 Hybrid

The Ninja 7 Hybrid, likely to take the spotlight, shares the same 451cc platform as its predecessors, the Ninja 500 and Eliminator. Equipped with a parallel twin-cylinder DOHC 4V liquid-cooled engine, capable of delivering 44.7 bhp of peak power and 42.6 Nm of peak torque, the Ninja 7 Hybrid introduces an additional electric motor.

This innovative feature results in a combined peak power of approximately 60 bhp. Unlike its counterparts, the Ninja 7 Hybrid features more sophisticated shift paddles in the left side switchgear, enhancing the overall riding experience.

The Weight Factor and Potential Pricing

While the Ninja 500 and Eliminator weigh a modest 171 kg and 176 kg, respectively, the Ninja 7 Hybrid tips the scales at 227 kg. This weight difference is attributed to the added electrical powertrain components, making the Ninja 7 Hybrid a heavyweight contender. If launched in India, it is anticipated that the pricing may approach the Rs. 10 lakh mark, positioning it as a premium option.

The Z E-1’s Electric Revolution

The Z E-1, Kawasaki’s first fully electric motorcycle, features two removable 1.5 kWh batteries with a total capacity of 3 kWh.

With a peak power output of 9 kW, slightly lower than competitors like the Ola S1 Pro, the Z E-1 offers a limited range of 72 km and a top speed of around 80 km/h.

However, considering India’s price-sensitive market, launching the Z E-1 may pose challenges, especially with global pricing positioning it above the Ninja 650.

Anticipated Launch and Conclusion

As we delve into the possibilities, the launch of these innovative motorcycles could potentially happen by the end of this year.

Kawasaki’s patents for the Ninja 7 Hybrid and Z E-1 mark a significant step towards introducing cutting-edge technology and eco-conscious options to the Indian motorcycle market.
