In a display of women empowerment and motorsport enthusiasm, the JK Tyre WIAA Women’s Rally to Valley 2024 kicked off on the 9th of March, 2024.

This highly anticipated annual event, organized by the Western India Automobile Association (WIAA) and presented by JK Tyre, took place at the National Sports Club of India (NSCI) in Worli, Mumbai.

A Weekend with Diverse Participation

Approximately 300 women, spanning diverse backgrounds, gathered for this event, collectively steering around 100 cars through the bustling streets of Mumbai. The rally serves not just as a motorsport extravaganza but also as a powerful platform for raising awareness about various socio-economic concerns that women face in society.

Flagging off the Rally

The rally commenced under the eye of Shri. Anil Kumbhare, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), adding an official touch to the proceedings.

The route, carefully curated to traverse through Mumbai’s notable sites. The journey will culminate in Pune, where a grand prize distribution ceremony awaits the triumphant winners.

Mr. Sanjay Sharma, Head-Motorsport at JK Tyre, expressed the company’s commitment to making motorsport accessible to everyone. With a decade-long association with WIAA, JK Tyre has played a pivotal role in fostering inclusivity within the motorsport community.

Raising Voices for Social Causes

Participants in the rally leveraged the platform to shed light on crucial social and economic issues. The rally became a canvas for highlighting concerns like Women’s Safety, Mental Health, Support for Farmers, Save Girl Child, and Social Acceptance, amplifying the impact of the event beyond the racing tracks.

Rallying in TSD Format

Conducted under the guidance of FMSCI (Federation of Motor Sport Clubs of India), the rally follows the classic TSD (Time, Speed, and Distance) format. This unique format not only tests the skills of the driver but also challenges the navigator.

Penalties are incurred for deviations from the designated schedule, adding an extra layer of excitement to the competition. The simplicity of the TSD format allows anyone with a driver’s license to join forces with a navigator and embark on a motorsport adventure.

Women’s Rally to the Valley

The JK Tyre WIAA Women’s Rally aligns seamlessly with JK Tyre’s vision of promoting women in motorsports. Over the years, the company has hosted successful women-only events across India, nurturing talents like Shriya Lohia, Mira Erda, and Sneha Sharma, who have represented the nation internationally.

Through initiatives like the Girls on Track (GoT) program, JK Tyre actively encourages young girls to explore the world of motorsports through karting, identifying and nurturing talent at the grassroots level.
