Notably, BEVs have experienced substantial growth, with five times more electric vehicles delivered during the first nine months of 2023 than the same period in 2022. The BMW iX has solidified its position as India’s most sought-after luxury electric vehicle, and the first-ever BMW iX1 sold out for 2023 on its launch day.

The commitment to electric mobility is reflected in the provision of a complimentary charger with every BMW and MINI BEV, as well as the availability of leading charging infrastructure in 35 cities through the BMW Group dealer network. Furthermore, the demand for the BMW X7 has almost doubled, especially among high-end Sports Activity Vehicles (SAV) enthusiasts.

Record-Breaking Sales for BMW

BMW has achieved its best-ever sales of 8,998 units, marking a 10% growth. Buoyed by new launches, September sales reached an all-time high in the brand’s history. More than 50% of year-to-date sales volumes were contributed by BMW Sports Activity Vehicles (SAV). The highly successful BMW luxury sports activity vehicle – the BMW X1 – set a new precedent by offering an electric variant (iX1) in addition to the petrol and diesel drivetrains. The introduction of the new BMW X5 in Q3 further boosted SAV sales.

MINI’s Impressive Year-to-Date Sales

MINI has also experienced remarkable growth in year-to-date sales, with 582 units delivered, marking a 10% increase. The locally produced MINI Countryman has been a major contributor with a 63% share, closely followed by the iconic MINI Hatch at 17%. The electric MINI 3-Door Cooper SE has also played a significant role, contributing to 17% of the sales.

Thriving BMW Motorrad Sales

BMW Motorrad, the motorcycling division of BMW Group India, thrived with a total of 6,778 units sold, marking a substantial 26% growth. The ‘Made in India’ models, including BMW G 310 R, BMW G 310 RR, and BMW G 310 GS, contributed to a remarkable 88% share. Fully imported models also experienced a growth of 36%, with the BMW GS Adventure segment gaining significant popularity.
