Hyundai ‘s Stargazer X Compact MPV: A New Contender on the Horizon

The Compact Mpv Segment is witnessing a surge in popularity, and Hyundai seems to have its eyes set on the Indian market with the potential launch of the Stargazer in 2024. Already in production since 2022. The Hyundai Stargazer has been making waves in select Asian markets, including Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Vietnam, and Brunei. Hyundai has taken a step further by introducing a new variant – the Stargazer X, which was recently showcased at the GIIAS 2023 event.

The Stargazer X variant is designed to be a more upscale version of the standard Stargazer. Boasting a sleek and sporty front fascia, the Stargazer X features distinctive silver highlights on the grille, giving it a chequered flag-inspired appearance. The overall design retains the unique triangular-shaped headlamp and fog lamp housing of the original Stargazer. What’s more, the bold stance of the MPV is accentuated by a prominent bumper and a full-width LED strip running along the bonnet. The design looks like it is inspired by the 90’s Toyota Primea.

A Familiar Yet Striking Side Profile

The side profile of the Stargazer X remains largely unchanged from the standard variant. Notable design elements include squared wheel arches, character lines on the door panels, and black trim along the wheelbase. Furthermore, standout feature here is the elaborate design of the 17-inch alloy wheels, wrapped in 205/55 Goodyear tires.

Distinctive Rear Design and Luxurious Interior

At the rear, the Stargazer X is easily recognizable by its unique H-style tail lamps, which make a strong impact with their triangular-shaped lighting elements. The extended tailgate spoiler adds a touch of dynamism to the rear aesthetics. Inside, the Stargazer X offers a host of new features, including black leatherette upholstery with red stitching, and a unique red pattern on the seats. Meanwhile, The top-tier Prime variant even comes equipped with Bose speakers, adding a touch of premium indulgence to this budget-friendly MPV.

Hyundai Stargazer X Tech and Safety Galore

The Stargazer X retains much of the technology and safety features found in the standard version. From a wireless phone charger and an 8-inch touchscreen to ambient mood lighting and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. What’s more, this MPV is fully equipped to meet modern connectivity needs. On the safety front, the Hyundai SmartSense suite offers a comprehensive range of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), including features like forward collision avoidance assist, lane following assist, blind spot collision avoidance assist, and more.

Hyundai Stargazer Efficient Performance and Pricing

Under the hood, the Stargazer X is powered by the same 1.5-liter naturally aspirated Smartstream engine as its standard counterpart. Generating 115 PS of maximum power and 144 Nm of peak torque. Additionally, this engine is mated to an IVT gearbox that sends power to the front wheels.

As for pricing, the Stargazer X comes in two variants in Indonesia. The Style variant is priced at around INR 17.67 lakh. On the other hand, the Prime variant starts at approximately INR 18.25 lakh.
