Kia Sonet Facelift – What’s New on the Exterior?

In the leaked images, the test unit of the Kia Sonet Facelift is covered with heavy camouflage. However, a few details of the Sonet facelift are visible in the leaked images. The carmaker is working on bringing the mid-life facelift of the Sonet.

Meanwhile, the Kia Sonet facelift will get a sportier design profile. The Sonet facelift will get a new design grille, new split-type LED headlights with DRLs, and a re-designed bumper. Also, the new bumper will get the revised air dam, skid plate, and fog lamps.

However, the side profile of the new Sonet facelift seems similar to the old version. The roof rails, window lines, and outer mirrors are the same in the Sonet facelift. But the compact SUV rides on the 16-inch re-designed alloy wheels. At the rear, the Sonet facelift will get the connected LED taillights and a new bumper with a diffuser.

Kia Sonet Facelift – Interior and Features

Like the exterior, we expect that the new Kia Sonet facelift will get a revised interior. The interior of the Sonet facelift will receive major changes to the dashboard layout. Also, a few elements in its interior will resemble the Seltos facelift.

Meanwhile, the new Sonet will get a new dashboard with dual screen display setup like the Seltos facelift. In the dual display setup, the size of each screen is 10.25 inches. While the driver’s display will be the digital instrument cluster, the other display is for the infotainment system.

In this update, the new Sonet facelift will get some premium features to stand out from the crowd. It will get new leather upholstery, a dashcam, a 360-degree camera, wireless charging, BOSE Audio System, Ventilated Seats, Air Purifier, etc.

Kia Sonet Facelift – Engine and Transmission Options

Mechanically, there will be no major changes in the new Sonet facelift. The new Kia Sonet Facelift will get the 3 engines and 5 gearbox options. Recently, the carmaker has updated its SUVs with the new BS6 Phase-2 compliant engines.

The lower variants will get the 1.2L 4-cylinder Smartstream Petrol engine. This engine produces 83hp of power and 115nm of torque output. However, this engine will get the option of a 5-Speed Manual Gearbox only.

Meanwhile, the higher variants will get the 1.0L 3-cylinder T-GDi turbocharged petrol engine. This engine produces an impressive 120ps of power and 172nm of torque output. The turbo petrol engine will be available with the option of a 6-Speed IMT or 7-Speed DCT gearbox.

Also, the new Sonet facelift will get the 1.5L 4-cylinder CRDi turbocharged diesel engine. This VGT diesel makes 116ps of power and 250nm of torque output. The diesel engine will get the options of a 6-Speed IMT and a 6-Speed Automatic Gearbox.

Kia Sonet Facelift – Launch, Pricing, and the Competition

We expect that the Kia will launch the Sonet facelift by the next year 2024. Meanwhile, the pricing of the new Sonet will range between Rs. 8-15 Lakhs. After the launch, the Kia Sonet facelift will compete with Hyundai Venue, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, and Tata Nexon.
