MG is one of the popular car makers in the Indian market. The carmaker has unveiled its 5-year business expansion plans for better operations and functionality in the Indian Automotive sector.

Key Initiatives of MG

The manufacturer has announced plans to increase its presence in the Indian market. Some of the key initiatives include localization of technology and parts sourcing and increasing Indian shareholding by 4 years. Moreover, MG has announced local manufacturing operations that include hydrogen cell technology. The MG has aimed to invest more than Rs. 5,000 crores and have a total of 20,000 workforce by 2028. And, the brand has plans to unveil and introduce more electric vehicles in the Indian market.

MG to increase plant production capacity

MG Motor India has planned to establish its second plant in Gujarat. This plant will significantly increase the production capacity from the current 1,20,000 to 3,00,000 vehicles. Furthermore, the manufacturer will increase the local manufacturing of EV components and battery assembly units in Gujarat. And the manufacturer has aimed to launch 4-5 new cars in India. The manufacturer will launch more EV models and achieve 70% of its sales from the EV models by 2028.

About MG Nurture Program

The company has aimed on developing a whopping 100,000 students through its MG Nurture Program. This program will focus on training students in advanced technologies such as EVs, ADAS, and Connected Car systems. The goal is to create a group of highly skilled and competent individuals.

These highly skilled persons can fulfil the growing demand for next-generation cars. By investing in the development of future-ready talent, the company hopes to stay ahead of the curve and maintain its position as a leader in the automotive industry.

Under this, we envision collaborating with 50 institutes to train 1,00,000 students on the latest technologies such as EV, connected cars and ADAS systems.”
