Jeep Wrangler is one of the most anticipated ladder frame SUVs in the market. Now, Jeep has unveiled the new generation of the Wrangler for 2024. The new SUV will be available in 6 different variants to cater to the diverse needs of the customers. Jeep has also introduced the 4xe Hybrid variants for the 2024 Wrangler.

Exterior Tweaks in the 2024 Jeep Wrangler

Jeep has revised the aesthetic profile of the new 2024 Jeep Wrangler. Upfront, the new 2024 Jeep Wrangler features the new 7-slot slimmed grille which looks more up-righted with different colors. The new Jeep Wrangler gets Round LED Headlights with DRLs, round fog lamps and turn indicators on wheel arches. The new Jeep Wrangler features the new trail-ready stealth antenna integrated into the front windshield.

At the rear, the new Jeep Wrangler features the new taillights and revised bumpers. The new 2024 Jeep Wrangler is available with choices of as many as 10 different wheel designs. The sizes and designs of wheels are different for every variant. The wheel sizes of regular variant vary from 17-20 inches while for Xtreme 35, the wheel size is 32-35 inches. Despite of these cosmetic tweaks, Jeep Wrangler has still retained the traditional old-school silhouette.

About the 4xe Drivetrain

Jeep has recently introduced their new 4xe hybrid drivetrain which is designed to reduce the emissions. With the aim of Zero Emissions, Jeep will replace their conventional 4×4 models with the new 4xe models. As a part of Zero Emission strategy, Jeep has plonked in the 4xe drivetrain in the new 2024 Wrangler.

The 4xe drivetrain is mated to the hybrid engine setup comprising of an electric motor and a battery. However, the hybrid electric motors can work independently or work together for better power delivery. This increases the fuel efficiency and reduce the emissions. Additionally, the battery can be charged using regenerative braking, which converts energy from braking into electricity to recharge the battery.

The new Jeep Wrangler 4xe features a new transfer case which is tweaked for different ratios depending on the variant. The Selec-Trac full-time transfer case of 392 Rubicon variant is tweaked for 4Lo ratio of 2.72:1 and axle ratio of 4.56:1. Apart from the 4xe, the off-road capabilities of Jeep Wrangler are accentuated by the new warn winch. This winch has capacity of 8000pounds and is mounted in a steel front bumper with removable end caps.

Interior and Features

The new 2024 Jeep Wrangler features the updated interiors with a slew of additional features. Jeep has revised the interiors of the Wrangler with a premium soft-touch finish. The voice command feature with microphone array technology is standard across all the variants of the new Wrangler.

The dashboard sports a new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with latest connectivity features as well as Jeep U-connect 5. The new infotainment system is mated to the 9-speaker Alpine Music System. Below the infotainment system is the new rectangular slim AC vents. However, the lower console is brimmed with various buttons to control the infotainment and AC of the vehicle. The Round AC vents are continued on the extreme sides of the dashboard.

Other comfort creature features include type-A and type-C ports, powered front seats, nappa leather upholstery, integrated off-road cameras etc. The details of the powertrain and 4xe mode can be viewed on the infotainment system as well as the MID too. The MID is surrounded by the analog dials and different gauges of fuel and engine temperature. The SUV features the multi-functional steering wheel with paddle shifters for shifting gears manually.

Powertrain Options

The new Jeep Wrangler is available with 3 different engine options and a 4xe powertrain setup. The base engine is a 2.0L 4-cylinder GME T4 turbo petrol unit that makes 270hp and 400nm of output. However, the Jeep has retained the 3.6L V6 engine producing 286hp and 353nm of output.

But the real showstopper is a 6.4L V8 engine churning out 470hp of power and 650nm of torque output. Jeep Wrangler is available with 2 transmission options. The 8-Speed Automatic Transmission is standard for all the engines. But the non-hybrid 2.0 and 3.6 engines get the option of a 6-Speed Manual Gearbox.

The 4xe hybrid powertrain gets the 2.0L 4-cylinder turbo petrol unit that makes 375hp of power and 637nm of torque. This engine is available with an 8-Speed Automatic Transmission. The engine is mated to a 17kWh battery pack and can be run for 21 miles on EV mode. This powertrain has a claimed fuel efficiency of 49 Miles Per Gallon Equivalent(MPGe).

Pricing and Launch Timeline

The pricing details of the new 2024 Jeep Wrangler are yet to be known. However, the bookings of this SUV are commenced in the USA and deliveries will be started soon. The refreshed Wrangler will also be introduced in other countries, such as India, at a later date.
