Milind Soman, an Indian fitness icon and supermodel who has always inspired people to live healthier lives, urged everyone to protect the environment by making smart transportation choices. The 57-year-old recently rode an electric bike powered by Ather 400 kilometres from Bangalore to Mangalore as part of the “Green Ride 2.0 – a Multi-city campaign,” keeping with his pledge and league of Green Ride.

Milind began the journey from BKC in Mumbai on December 19 on a bicycle and continued to Bangalore on an Ather electric bike before arriving in Mangalore on December 26 after travelling more than 1400 kilometres overall. Mumbai, Pune, Karad, Kolhapur, Belgaon, Shegaon, Hirebennur, Tumkuru, Mysore, and Mangalore were among the cities visited en route. Milind visited solar energy facilities, participated in tree-planting campaigns, and interacted with regional non-governmental organisations (NGOs) fighting for a sustainable environment along his route.

The goal of the Green Ride is to raise public awareness and inspire people to make the right decisions in order to protect the environment and maintain clean, pollution-free air. It seeks to advance the causes of a sustainable environment, clean air, and renewable energy.

While speaking at the completion of the initiative, Milind said, “I always believe it’s not just about talking regarding deteriorating environmental conditions but we all need to get up and take necessary steps which could be taking care of the neighbourhoods, sampling trees or simply by choosing right commuting mode. These small steps can make a big difference to environmental health and hence our health too.”

Green Ride was released on December 2021. Milind Soman rode a bicycle 1,000 kilometres from Mumbai to the capital of the country to promote awareness of air pollution. In order to encourage the use of cleaner fuel and a healthy lifestyle to combat pollution, he cycled 150 km per day.
