ChatGPT vs Bing vs Google Bard: An In-Depth Analysis of Search Results

ChatGPT, Bing, and Google Bard are all generative AI models, which can take your text prompts and deliver you unique outputs. They can help you in generating emails, process information, or research online. None of the AIs can think as they are algorithms that link words and sentences together depending on their learnings. These generating models take actions and only generate output depending on the input processing.

Even though all these systems are quite similar, it’s difficult to choose the best option. This post discusses the differences between these three generative models, which will help you to make the right choice. Let’s dive in.

What is ChatGPT?

Before discussing ChatGPT, you should learn what Generative Pre-trained Transformers (GPT) are. These are a family of OpenAI-based language models trained on massive amounts of text data, which are fine-tuned for Natural Language Processing (NLP) activities. GPT-4, the latest GPT version, powers Bing Chat and is accessible through ChatGPT Plus. GPT-3.5 powers ChatGPT and initiated the AI test generation trend. It was trained on 570 GB of plaintext gathered from web crawling, books, and English Wikipedia.

ChatGPT has changed the game in AI text generation. The latest iteration is dependent on ChatGPT-3.5 which is accessible to users for free on the OpenAI website. Even though, you may require to wait for servers to be available to deliver responses if you are on the free plan. ChatGPT Plus, a paid tier, grants you GPT-4 access. You will be able to access GPT via Bing Chat. The biggest drawback of ChatGPT is its lack of access to the broader internet because of which Bing Chat and Google Bard are better choices for users wanting to perform research.

OpenAI launched plugins, which can help ChatGPT interface with the broader internet. ChatGPT is one of the best generative tools because of its easy utility, open access, and next-generation capabilities. It is not the best option for researching as its training data doesn’t comprise anything from the previous year. However, it’s a great choice if you want to do anything quickly.

What is Bing Chat?

Bing Chat is a free tool to access GPT-4 and you get immediate approval when you register for the waiting list. It can access the entire internet and source the findings so you can check the authenticity of the provided information. Not every user will check the citations. However, Bing Chat is better than ChatGPT, which delivers the information with no chance to see the source. You can also select a conversation style, and ask it to be more precise, more balanced, or more creative.

Microsoft has now unused image generation to Bing Chat and thus, you don’t have to pay for  Midjourney or create a local instance of Stable Diffusion. Bing Chat has several limitations, like insulting users. Microsoft has limited everyday chat. You are restricted to 200 queries every day with approximately 20 messages in every conversation, which restricts the capability of Bing Chat from going off the rails. Microsoft has imposed such limits to save costs.

You also require Microsoft Edge or Bing if you want. Though, you can also go for other options if you want to use Chrome Extensions or other modifications. The qualities of Bing Chat are its little more advanced language model, however, it falls a little behind due to its limitations. Bing Chat is mainly an extension of its search engine and thus is perfect for research. It is quite different from Google’s approach.

What is Google Bard?

Google Bard has a big limitation, i.e., limitation. You can also use this generative AI model if you live in the UK or US. So, you can’t use Bard if you live in any other country. It may expand soon enough, however until then, you will require to resort to using one of the other generative IT models if you want engagement with a chatbot. The key difference with Google Bard is that Google is using different technology to fuel its chatbot. Thus, it is not GPT-based like the other generative AI tools. It is an extension of Google’s internal LaMDA, which the company launched 2 years ago at Google I/O but from what certain users are seeing, it seems to be a little behind what the other competitors are doing presently.

The company is currently experiencing certain growing pains when it is related to fact-checking and misinformation. However, the situation will likely improve as Google functions to compete with the increasing competition from OpenAI and Microsoft. Surprisingly, Google is on the back foot as it doesn’t promote Bard as an extension of its search but instead as a complement to it. If Google felt confident in Bard, it would surely promote it as a search engine in the same manner that its competitor Microsoft is doing. Google, this time, is lagging in the competition, still, it stays to be seen if it can survive the competition.

ChatGPT vs Bing vs Google Bard – Which Should You Use?

ChatGPT is one of the best generative AI models to use for your business. Bing Chat also helps your business communication but you need to use the Bing Chat app or Edge. Google Bard lags quite behind to consider as a competitor currently. Bing scores bonus points because of its capability of researching the web. However, the scenario is about to change when ChatGPT acquires broadly distributed plugin support for all users. ChatGPT is a leading AI generative tool in today’s digital world.

It can be a disaster to research new topics using AI generative tools, such as Bing Chat and Bard. ChatGpT is the best option to start emails or come up with and implement new ideas. Bing Chat is at least capable of showing you resources. However, it has a huge limitation, i.e., limited search volumes. So, sign up to use ChatGPT if you require it to focus on good research.
