Meet Eli Camacho, Head of Business Relations

Head of Business Relations

Eli Camacho

Eli joined The Ortus Club with just the right amount of flexibility and organisational skill that the company was looking for. Tasked with leading a team of seasoned planners, she endeavoured to revitalise their project coordination systems and foster an environment of nurturing growth among peers. Getting on board with fresh new ideas has always been smooth sailing for Eli, especially given her innate ability to adapt to any situation.

What makes you the best at what you do? What values drive you to perform even better?

The Ortus Club gave me the opportunity to develop and showcase my adaptability to any situation. The company’s management recognized my leadership potential, assigning me my own team with whom I can apply and share my untapped capabilities.

My team and I had to start from scratch, but this challenge did not hinder us from having innovated and established the systems we now employ. With organisation as one of my chief strengths, I reformed our processes, which includes a task monitoring system for various events and projects, and ensured that my team and I maximized the opportunities that came our way and empowered us to reach where we are now.

What challenges have you proudly overcome in such a fast-paced working environment?

One of the things that I found challenging was managing members much older than myself. I’m deeply blessed to be surrounded by a team of experts who require no additional training in most of the work that we do. However, as we began implementing our new systems, we arrived at a pivotal crossroad: shedding off their familiarity with the old systems. We struggled with learning how to apply these revamped processes, together with new and retained tools, especially since we had to align these processes with the rarity of what we do at The Ortus Club.

I had to acquaint myself with this generally unique team dynamic as well, but, thankfully, we established and fostered mutual respect for each other and our respective fields of expertise. Being in The Ortus Club has instilled in me the value of kindness and respect amongst all members within an organisation — regardless of age or background.

What knowledge can you share with the charisma and confidence of a lifelong expert?

I remember during my first few weeks in Ortus, the part of the process that I was most nervous about learning and/or doing and what I thought would be what I least excelled in was actually one of the things that got management to notice me and see my potential, which later on led to my promotion to head a new team.

Learn to be open to the unfamiliar and accept the unexpected then adapt after. You would never know what you’re capable of doing if you don’t give it a try first and sometimes, what you think is your weakness can actually become one of your strengths. Never be afraid to push yourself to grow and just continue to be open. I don’t really consider myself to be an expert in anything because I acknowledge that there is always something new to learn and the opportunities for growth are endless.

Why do you stay with the company? What would you tell someone interested in joining?

I’ve decided to stay at The Ortus Club because of the support system I have and the opportunities I’ve been given and may be given to continue growing. It’s always nice to be reminded that the people with whom I work will always be there for me, whether it be to listen to my concerns or to root for me after every win. The Ortus culture nurtures such an amazing and humbling environment, where all of us are constantly inspired to face things head-on as one big team, no matter what our role is in whichever department we’re from.

In terms of professional growth, there are things I’d still want to achieve that are outside of my comfort zone. These things push me to broaden my horizons and thrive in different aspects of the company that I’ve yet to explore. There are also a number of things in the company that we can still innovate, incorporate, and improve, and with a growing team encouraged to contribute, we’ll never run out of opportunities to come across.

This exceptionally healthy form of camaraderie is something anyone might not find in any other company, and we’d love for you to experience it with us. You’ll enjoy flourishing with esteemed and like-minded peers and potential mentors, building relationships with a whole host of people from various walks of life, and expanding your perspective on knowledge sharing and other myriad industries in different business spheres. From our clients worldwide, to our hosts from different backgrounds and cultures — even within our ever-growing company with locations in Singapore, Manila, Rome, and Kosovo — you’ll never run out of people to bump into and exchange ideas with.

What do you think the future holds for The Ortus Club? What role will you play in realising that vision?

We are a growing team, and it’s really exciting to witness that growth. We’ll have more events in more parts of the world that we haven’t explored yet! This has given us and will continue to give us an edge in the knowledge-sharing niche. We’ll never cease to innovate the services we offer, and we’ll always ensure that what we can do for our clients, both current and future, are things no other company can do — even if they try.
