Over a year into her stay at The Ortus Club, Anya now puts her experience to the test through highly specialised Operational Activities — built from the ground up by none other than herself. With Anya at the helm, the OA team acts as a ‘special forces’ group, addressing any challenges within operations identified by managing partners down to the rank and file.

What makes you the best at what you do? What values drive you to perform even better?

I’m good at setting boundaries. Work is work, and personal is personal. This has helped me develop a good work ethic and keep things as simple or as ‘easy’ as possible.

I live by the saying, ‘Work smarter, not harder.’ I do my best to help my team and I get the most done with just the right amount of effort. It’s all about delegation.

Integrity matters. I have strong moral principles, so I never let anyone sway my beliefs. But that doesn’t mean I don’t know how to compromise if necessary.

What challenges have you proudly overcome in such a fast-paced working environment?

When I joined the company, expectations were high, which pushed me to work twice as hard. I had to prove I deserved any praise I received.

Despite having only a week to prepare and a short brief to guide me, I built a new team, Operational Activities, from scratch. Finding the heads, designing the processes—I had to do all that while being an Assistant Team Lead and managing two projects. Somehow, I thrived, but all I had, in the beginning, were five dollars and a dream.

What knowledge can you share with the charisma and confidence of a lifelong expert?

If you’re the smartest person in a room, you shouldn’t be there. You must constantly be learning from the people around you and, most importantly, your mistakes.

Fake it till you make it. It’s a bit like reverse psychology, where I convince myself I’ve already got it all figured out, which helps me stay composed and succeed, in the end.

Why do you stay with the company? What would you tell someone interested in joining?

I’ve never encountered a company that takes care of its people as well as The Ortus Club, and management sets a good example for everybody. If something needs to be done, they find a way to make it happen, even if it means trying something new.

The salary’s competitive, nobody bothers you after hours, and, most importantly, you get to see the real-world impact of your work. There are opportunities to make business decisions many people don’t get to do early in their careers—and we get to travel sometimes.
