Meet Jessi Manansala, Assistant Team Lead

Assistant Team Lead

Jessi Manansala

Jessi Manansala shares insights on her career journey and the growth potential that The Ortus Club affords employees like her. Over the past year, she sought opportunities to improve and develop new perspectives and her own leadership skills.

What makes you the best at what you do? What values drive you to perform even better?

I like to strategise before starting anything. Whenever I reach out to guests, I keep myself organised. I bring up the quality of my work in line with the Ortus experience we provide. I can anticipate if anything goes wrong. My flexibility comes from the knowledge I gained since I started working with The Ortus Club.

What drives me to perform better is my thirst for improvement. Learning on the go and finding new ways to solve problems helps me get up in the morning to work. Then, as my responsibilities pile up, I can carry out more duties and be ready for them.

What challenges have you proudly overcome in such a fast-paced working environment?

We had an event going perfectly well until a moderator cancelled on us thirty minutes before the event. Instead of worrying and panicking, I composed myself and coordinated with our clients and client directors to find a solution. In the end, the event became one of our most successful.

Another challenge I’ve proudly overcome was hopping onto a masterclass event with only a week and a half of preparations. We had to get around 20 RSVPs. Surprisingly, our team garnered that many guests in a short time. These challenges brought out my ability to be flexible and adapt to difficult situations.

“Don’t let failure affect you negatively because you have to adapt to it. Don’t dwell on things that you don’t have control over. Instead, think of what else you can do to change the current situation.”

What knowledge can you share with the charisma and confidence of a lifelong expert?

You need to trust the process. As an assistant team lead, one of my primary responsibilities is guesting. There are days when I don’t get any RSVPs, and we sometimes don’t get where we want to be. But, here’s the thing. If you did everything you could and strategised well, you just have to trust yourself and the process. Amazingly, in the succeeding weeks, everything can just work out and fall into place.

Don’t get too overwhelmed. One thing I learned and like to share with everyone is don’t let failure affect us negatively because we have to adapt to it. It’s inevitable to make mistakes, and there’s so much more to overcoming it on the spot instead of agonising over it all day. Don’t dwell on things that you don’t have control over. Instead, think of what else you can do to change the current situation.

Why do you stay with the company? What would you tell someone interested in joining?

I stay with the company because I love the people in it. Everyone is so young and often in the same age group. The supportive environment enriches the dynamic and professional culture of the company. It’s a place where a growth mindset is cultivated, setting you on the right path.

The never-ending growth and expansion of the company influence me to stay and learn more. Who I am now is a completely different person from when I first joined. I’ve achieved so many things and proudly overcame the challenges I’ve faced. I know that as I continue to grow in this company, I’ll become a better businesswoman.

Take the risk, and don’t think about the consequences. If you’re interested in joining The Ortus Club, the experience will speak for itself. As you go through life, sometimes you just have to do things even if you are afraid. The Ortus Club is all about new experiences.

What do you think the future holds for The Ortus Club? What role will you play towards it?

The Ortus Club has a lot of growth potential. It’s likely going to grow through different avenues. So, it’s not just about knowledge sharing anymore; it’s about sharing ideas on expanding the business.

As an Assistant Team Lead, I believe innovation is a prominent topic for discussion in The Ortus Club. I have a lot of ideas that could help the company grow. Helping others become a better version of themselves in the company sets me at a level where I can create change and inspire others to do the same. It’s a liberating feeling and shows me that anyone can achieve anything.
