Meet Frances Abenojar, Senior Project Director

Senior Project Director

Frances Abenojar

Frances joined The Ortus Club as a fresh graduate with minimal experience in event planning and management. Today, she teaches others to become the best they can be and helps them find solutions to problems on a daily basis. A key figure in the team, she’s on a mission to rise up the ranks and help contribute to the company’s growth in the long run.

What makes you the best at what you do? What values drive you to perform even better?

As a project director, I am the best at what I do when I work with my newbies. Managing a group of new project coordinators requires me to have patience and understanding. It’s important that I’m able to emphatically communicate with them so that they can learn and develop a healthy mindset whilst working.

Being self-aware is an essential value that helps me perform better. By being mindful of my own strengths and weaknesses, I can identify what needs to improve. I’m able to take on challenges that help me become better at what I do and look for ways to solve problems.

What challenges have you proudly overcome in such a fast-paced working environment?

I started in the company when I was a fresh graduate, so I wasn’t aware of how to work in a fast-paced working environment. As a newbie, I was easily overwhelmed and anxious. However, with the team’s help, I became more confident in my position. I felt more grounded and in control of my environment and my tasks. I can proudly say that I’ve also become more flexible with my schedule. Whenever a surprise task or a problem arises, I can take action without being flustered.

“People have different working styles. As a manager, you have to be flexible. Everyone is different, so you need to be empathetic and understanding.”

What knowledge can you share with the charisma and confidence of a lifelong expert?

I’ve learned that not everyone works the same way. Considering their perspectives, how they perform their tasks, and how they’re able to finish their work can be totally different from your own process. So, putting myself in their shoes helped me improve my collaboration skills. It’s similar to when a client challenges you. Taking into account how they see things makes it easier for me to work out solutions for them.

People have different workings styles. As a manager, you have to be flexible when it comes to that. Everyone is different, so you need to be more empathetic and understanding about that.

Why do you stay with the company? What would you tell someone interested in joining?

I’m here because I can see myself growing in the many available opportunities. I get along well with the team because of the great company culture. It’s a young professional team that works towards a common goal.

I encourage a lot of people to join The Ortus Club because you get to communicate and collaborate with people from many different cultures and backgrounds.  Creating connections with people is an exciting way to get involved with everyone in the team and increase your knowledge of certain skills and topics.

What do you think the future holds for The Ortus Club? What role will you play towards it?

I’m excited to see the future of The Ortus Club in this fast-paced industry. Especially since we’re growing fast in number, I hope to see new faces in the company.

I want my role to change into a more senior role. Being able to teach people how to be better leaders is great since that’s what I’m doing right now. Furthermore, I want to contribute to even bigger growth for The Ortus Club.
