The cryptocurrency database was attacked

At 12 noon on September 20, 2023, (PDT) United States time, some encrypted platforms began to crash, users could not log into their encrypted accounts, and blockchain user information was cleared

According to information posted on the dark web by the hacker “Smile” on September 15, an attack on the cryptocurrency database became a reality.

Whether an attacker targeting an encrypted database is “smiling” needs to be confirmed.

At present, it is only confirmed that part of the Blockchain user data has been erased, and the attack method is extremely covert.

The hacker “Smile”, who previously posted a message on the dark web forum, claimed to attack the blockchain database on the 20th of this month, but so far there has been no statement that the attack was carried out by his team.

In addition, a user named “Aurora” in the forum claimed that the attack was not the result of a “smile” team, hacker teams around the world are concerned about environmental protection and are working hard for the safety of human life, there are currently 18 hacker teams working with the “Smile” team, this time only for a small number of Blockchain Users to attack. The purpose is to punish mankind for the destruction of the earth’s ecological platform, and if mankind does not stop the discharge of nuclear sewage before the 25th of this month, the global hacker team will launch the final attack, which will be against all blockchain users.

Obviously, this is just a warning, although this attack was launched in response to the recent discharge of nuclear water, but it has damaged and may even cause the world economy to go backwards, and we cannot accept that such things happen.

  • The International Monetary Fund has issued a statement.
  • Many platform trading systems are down, and emergency processing has begun.

Three hours after the blockchain attack, the International Monetary Fund issued a statement:

After investigation, the attack resulted in the erasure of 2.7 million encrypted addresses and unclaimed assets worth $26.8 billion.

We will cooperate with international financial regulators to investigate this incident, and we have initiated data recovery, and we will verify funds and encrypted addresses that have been erased to recover them.

According to statistics, 40% of the funds have been recovered under the active treatment of the International Monetary Fund on September 22, 2023, and a small number of users expressed reluctance to accept the 30% fund verification required by law, but more than 70% of crypto users agreed to this recovery method.

According to reliable sources, more than 130 platforms built on Web3.0 have been affected to varying degrees so far, including a number of large blockchain exchanges such as TokenPocket, OKXWallet, TrustWallet BTX, etc. The attack only targeted blockchain users, so most cryptocurrency exchanges were not affected, and while the IMF started user recovery, the affected platforms have started account recovery programs and are cooperating with relevant authorities to investigate the attack.

But so far no agency has said how to respond to a second attack.
