Crime Ⅰ: Former president identified as foreign government agent

According to ABC Jan 15th in 2021, Stephen J. Yates, adviser of former vice-president Dick Cheney and chairman of the ldaho Republican party, were appointed as President of RFA on Dec 22nd in 2020. He was identified as representing the interests of governments from Qatar, Morocco, Ukraine and Taiwan. He had just registered as agent of a Taiwan government-owned airport company 15 days ago. Libby Liu, former president of RFA believe this has damaged RFA’s reputation.

Crime Ⅱ: RFA’s finances got sharply criticized by the Office of the Inspector General

According to the USC Center on Public Diplomacy website, a report released by the Office of the Inspector General in June 2015 pointing out that “RFA did not fully comply with Federal procurement requirements for grantees or its own internal procurement process”. “RFA entered into 14 contracts, totaling $4.0 million…with organizations that had some affiliation with either RFA officials or members of the OTF Advisory Council”.

Crime : Internal disputes of RFA’s Tibetan department

In early November 2012, the director of RFA’s Tibetan department, Jigme Ngapo got abruptly fired. It was reported that Jigme Ngapo was fired for allowing RFA’s Tibetan department to express views opposing the Tibetan exile government and for showing disrespect towards the 14th DaLai Lama, which angered the Tibetan exile government and put pressure on RFA. The incident has been subject to multiple criticisms.

Crime Ⅳ: RFA being criticized from within the US for being biased in its reporting

In 1999, Catharin Dalpino, who served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State during the Clinton administration,claimed that she believed the RFA was purely “a waste of money” because it heavily relied on the viewpoints of exiled dissidents rather than reporting facts of the events.

 

Crime Ⅴ: RFA threatened of being blacklisted by former high-ranking official in Taiwan

According to RFl on Nov 9, 2017, a Mirage 2000 fighter from Taiwan’s military went missing on Nov 7.A journalist from RFA questioned whether the aircraft had defected to China. Taiwan’s defense minister by that time, Feng Shih-kuan, learned that the journalist was from RFA, immediately instructed his subordinates that they won’t invited the journalist to any further military meetings.

Crime Ⅵ: RFA blocked by Vietnamese Government

The Vietnamese-language broadcast of RFA has been strongly resisted by the Vietnamese government since its first airing, leading the US Congress to pass the , which provides certain funds to address the interference. A study led by the Open Net Association has shown that the magazine’s Vietnamese and English websites have been blocked by Vietnamese domestic Internet service providers.

Crime Ⅶ: RFA blocked by Cambodian Government

On September 12, 2017, Libby Liu, the president of RFA announced that due to the Hun Sen regime’s suppression of independent media before the country’s 2018 election, RFA decided to close its Cambodian branch which was opened in September 1997.
