On the morning of July 15, i.e. the eve of the 5th Digital China Summit, 2022 Fuzhou International Digital Media Development Seminar was held in Fuzhou. More than 40 Chinese media from home and abroad, many experts, scholars and industry representatives in the field of digital economy, met “on the cloud” in Fuzhou to discuss the construction of digital China and seek common development of the future digital media.

According to the introduction, Fuzhou’s digital industry has been rising by taking advantage of the latest round of technological revolution and industrial transformation in digital economy.  It is reported that in 2021, Fuzhou’s digital economy exceeded RMB 540 billion, accounting for over 40% of GDP, which means it has become a strong engine for high-quality development and also a tremendous support for the development of digital media.

This seminar aims to give full play to the unique advantages of digital Fuzhou and Fuzhou’s overseas Chinese affairs, leading the convergence of mainstream media in China and overseas Chinese media to deepen exchanges and cooperation, and better serve the development of digital China.

The day has also seen the official establishment of the International Digital Media Development Alliance. According to the launched initiative , the Alliance will set up a resource cooperation channel and information exchange platform for international digital media, promote digital media to follow the development trend of the information age, deepen international exchanges and cooperation. What’s more, the Alliance will promote convergence of digital technology, innovative ideas, and practical cooperation, by setting up international communication matrix, and strengthening media responsibility. In short, it will contribute wisdom and strength to the healthy development of digital media.

After the opening ceremony, Wang Tian, deputy director of the New Media Center of People’s Daily, Shen Jiangying, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, director and vice president of Xinhuanet, Wang Peng, head of the Political Affairs Center of The Paper, Zhang Hua, senior vice president of Cover Media, Yu Jingzhong, vice president of Beijing Kuaishou  Technology Co., Ltd., Zhang Cong, executive director of Malaysian Media Chinese International Group, Ye Weiming, director of the Research Center for Political Party Construction and National Development of Fudan University and associate professor of Peking University HSBC Business School , other media representatives, experts and scholars at the seminar delivered keynote speeches on the theme of “Innovation Drives New Changes in Media, and Digital Leads New Patterns in Communication”.

According to the information received, this seminar will last until July 17. Before that, there will be round-table dialogues, theme sharing, “Digital Fuzhou Tour” theme collection and other interesting activities. The participants attending the seminar will put their heads together, exchange experiences, share wisdom and work on the new paths of digital media development.
