Xiamen lights up the Twin Towers to celebrate the 50th anniversary of China-Mexico diplomatic relations

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Mexico, 15 pairs of sister cities including Beijing, Xiamen, Mexico City and Guadalajara, lit up their landmark buildings in the main colors of Chinese and Mexican national flag on Feb. 14. The Twin Towers of Xiamen were illuminated on this occasion.

Since the establishment of diplomatic ties between China and Mexico in 1972, the bilateral relations have embarked on a fast lane of growth with political mutual trust deepened and friendly exchanges across the board strengthened. The sister provinces/states and Sister Cites between two countries have become an increasingly important driving force in this regard. The light-up event, jointly launched by the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries and the Embassy of the United Mexico States in China, is the first of its kind to serve as a commemorative activity for Chinese cities and foreign sister cities in celebrating the anniversary of diplomatic ties. The event, covering a 100-million-strong population in China and Mexico combined, will enhance the friendship between the two peoples while deepening exchanges and cooperation between sister cites of both countries.
