Is Your Website Content Killing It?

Did you know that your website content is the key to unlocking the success of your business?

Sure, you are going to succeed through drive and determination but your website is your shop window. It is the place where visitors go to take a look at who you are. It is the place they go to find out what you offer. It is the place they go to determine whether they actually like the look of you. You get the picture, essentially, it tells them all they need to know about you.

So, when they arrive at your website, do you know that you have seconds to impress them? In those few seconds, you have to wow your visitor and provide them with exactly what they are looking for. This is where your content has to engage, relate and resonate with them. So, how do you make sure that it will work? Easy.

Get To The Point

There is absolutely no need for you to add content just for the sake of adding content. Your Readers don’t want to have to pull apart line after line or paragraph after paragraph to find what they need. Many people will skim read and that is where you need to really grab their attention. Make the important points stand out without filling your website with too much content.

What is “About Us”?

Many people will go to your “About Us” page which is where they expect to learn about your business. While it might seem tempting to go into why you started the business, who works for the business and what drives you to do what you do, you should avoid this. The simple fact of the matter is that you need to give your readers what they want. The content that goes into your “About Us” page has to get to the point and prove to your readers why you are right for them. So, explain your services or what you offer and then leave it at that. It seems fairly cut throat doesn’t it? Well it should. Readers do not need to learn about when the business was established and how it is run by Mr and Mrs Jones. They want cold, hard facts that mean something to them. So give it to them.

Make it Credible

The aim of your content is to make your readers believe in you. There is no doubt that there are many other businesses out there that do what you do. However, what you need to create is content that proves your credibility. As an example, instead of saying that you sell energy efficient radiators, explain why they are energy efficient by providing figures and stats. This will go a long way to enhancing your credibility as a business.

Create Original Content

It has been mentioned already that there are going to be competitors offering the exact same service or products as you. This makes it even more crucial for you to stand out in every way possible . So, you are going to need to research your competitors and take a look at their content and then create something unique. Of course, there is going to be some element of overlap but your readers will want to read content that is different. So, take a look at their content and look for gaps in it and then look to fill those gaps with meaningful content. Sometimes, it makes sense to request a content writing service to create your content. This will enable them to use their creativity and external perspective that can help to put a different angle on your content.
