We are excited to announce that Scalefusion now offers App Configuration for Android Enterprise.

Essential to modern software development, App configuration enables developers to fine-tune app behavior and performance. In an enterprise environment, not all applications are available in Google Play Store, which makes configuring them a challenge. To solve this, we have now extended App Configuration for Android.

IT admins can now configure enterprise applications right from the Scalefusion dashboard. 

Need for App Configurations

Application Configurations or Managed Configurations empower enterprises to remotely configure apps, automate operations, and customize app behavior to align with specific organizational needs. Whether establishing automatic connections to a corporate network or pre-configuring apps with employee credentials, app configurations empower IT teams to remotely configure apps in bulk, making them ready for business use.

App developers can define custom properties or configuration fields to tailor the operation and behavior of apps precisely. With the extension of App Configurations to private Android applications/APKs distributed through the Scalefusion enterprise store, IT admins can now leverage this feature even for apps beyond those available in Play for Work Apps.

Since not all apps are available on Google Play Store, it’s cumbersome for IT teams to configure them according to changing business requirements and update them across the device inventory.

How does it Work?

Enterprise App Config eliminates the need for individually configuring private apps. IT admins can save time and effort by configuring and publishing apps in bulk via Scalefusion Application Management’s Enterprise Store.

• IT admins can upload the APK of a private app
• The Scalefusion Android MDM Agent reads the configurations from the uploaded APK (assuming it supports App Config)
• IT teams can use the configuration wizard within the Application Management section to configure the apps 
• The apps are ready to be pushed to the enrolled devices
• IT admins can view the status of app publishing, app version as well as app configuration

For apps already published using the Scalefusion Enterprise Store, IT teams can check and configure them by clicking the Check Configuration button. App Configs can be published, edited, unpublished and deleted
