1. Check your website analytics setup

It is important for websites to be set up correctly with defined goals. You should also be aware of whether your organic traffic is getting credit for leads and sales. Google Tag Manager allows you to see how often your organic traffic led to PDF downloads or how many times organic search visitors followed website links to email addresses like info@ and sales@.

2. Find out whether Google crawls your pages

Google Search Console reveals whether Google has reached your key pages in addition to details about other technical data. If Google isn’t getting to your pages, you need to revisit your internal link strategy. Finding ways to link those undiscovered pages or sections from popular website pages will also help.

3. Update page content headers

Updating or adjusting page content headers can go a long way to maximize ranking benefits. Use words that are critical for SEO in the header. For instance, a good blog page header for a blog about cardiovascular health would be

“Ultimate Health Foods For Cardiovascular Fitness” as opposed to just “Cardiovascular Health”. You can’t simplify to the extreme because a topic label is not a very inviting header.

4. Focus on page load speed

While some websites rank well even without a very good page load speed, it is a technical issue that must be addressed as it affects user experience a great deal. Tools like GTmetrix or Google’s PageSpeed Insights can be used to analyze your speed.

5. Optimize images, file names, and alt text

Speaking of page load speed, using small image file sizes can help website pages load quicker. Make sure to use keywords in the file name and complement them with alt text.

6. Pursue backlinks

Search engine rankings are directly affected by the quality and number of backlinks to your site. In 2020, Backlinko found that about 95% of all website pages have no backlinks from other sites or pages referring to them. Good quality content and existing relationships can be leveraged to attract backlinks.

7. Favor clean, short URLs

URLs still make a difference when it comes to search engine rankings. Instead of diluting a page URL with several works from your headline, focus on keeping them short and using words that have the most weight because searchers are more likely to click on short URLs on the results pages.
