TubeBuddy Click Magnet

What is the TubeBuddy Click Magnet tool

TubeBuddy’s Click Magnet uses artificial intelligence to classify the content of each of your thumbnails, then reports to you which categories and specific videos are performing best in terms of click-through rate data from YouTube Analytics.

It was built with the intention to help YouTubers to improve their video click-through rate to get more people to watch their videos.

Click Magnet is one of the best and most useful TubeBuddy features for any YouTuber who is serious about growing their YouTube channel to 1000 subscribers and beyond.

It uses YouTube Analytics data to compile detailed click-through rate statistics for each of your videos and combines this with machine learning technology to semantically categorize each of your video titles and thumbnails into different categories.

This way you can see how your thumbnails and titles are performing relative to one another, and within different design categories.

It also tells you which videos are worth polishing up to make the most impact.

How to access TubeBuddy’s Click Magnet Tool

You can access TubeBuddy’s Click Magnet Tool on the YouTube Studio Content page.

Clicking on the TubeBuddy Bulk & Misc Tools icon and select Click Magnet from the menu.

The Click Magnet Dashboard

On the Click Magnet dashboard, you can see an overview of all available tools that you can use.

Among these, we have Power Rankings, Element Inspector, CTR Opportunities, and Advanced Analytics.

Click Magnet Power Rankings

The Power Rankings tab can be found in the top-left corner.

You’ll be able to see a list of all of your videos and your click-through rate, watch time, clicks, and overall performance.

There are several ways to filter traffic, including viewing all traffic, YouTube searches, suggested videos, and browser features.

Furthermore, you can easily identify videos that are not performing well by using the colors of the traffic light.

To increase your click-through rate, pay attention to any video that has a red or yellow flag in the CTR column.

Click Magnet Element Inspector

My favorite TubeBuddy Click Magnet tool is the element inspector. It gives you valuable insights on how to design better YouTube thumbnails based on click-through rate data.

It uses Artificial Intelligence to analyze all of your video thumbnails and then breaks them down element by element, showing you how each design factor affects your click-through rate.

Let’s check out some of my YouTube channel thumbnails.

Face vs no face

The click-through rate for video thumbnails with faces seems to be lower than for those without. This might just be an outlier since I only have one video without a face.

Emotions

Now let’s see whether facial emotion affects click rates. In my videos, the most effective facial expressions are confused, calm, and happy.

My thumbnails also seem to show that I have never expressed surprise or disgust. I might experiment with this in future thumbnails.

Face sizes

So far, so good. Let’s see if the size of faces matters. In my videos, close-ups of my face perform best!

You can hover over any of the blue bars to see examples of videos within each category.

Text vs no text

What are the differences between video thumbnails with and without text overlay? All of my videos have text on them, so at the moment I have no insight into this.

At a later date, I may try removing text from some thumbnails for further testing.

Words in titles

You can use this feature to analyze all of your YouTube video titles, group them based on common keywords, and rank them. All of these keyword groups can be compared using Click Magnet.

For my channel, “What”, “get” and “how” seem to perform really well! 🙂

Click-through rate opportunities for your videos

Using this view, you can quickly identify videos that already perform really way in terms of YouTube watch time, but have a low click-through rate.

If you find a well-performing video with a low click-through rate, think about redesigning their thumbnails and experimenting with video titles to see which works better.

Click Magnet Advanced Analytics

Advanced Analytics is the last tool we will examine today. You can filter videos by timeframe, source, and minimum impressions to identify new opportunities for improving your video click-through rate.

Next steps

Click Magnet is an incredibly powerful tool from TubeBuddy.

By using its AI technology, it can categorize each of your thumbnails into semantic categories, and provide you with the data you need to make data-driven design decisions for click-worthy YouTube thumbnails.

By comparing the click-through rate data of each video with the total watch time, it gives you great recommendations on which videos to optimize first.

I recommend reading my articles on how to design great YouTube thumbnails and how to improve your YouTube click-through rate.
