Blogging isn't just a Hobby

Blogging isn’t just a hobby, it’s the canvas of your life

There’s an insane amount of conjecture about Blogging, Some think of blogging as a hobby, that people with an ample amount of free time can afford to have.
Some think that blogging is meant for those with good command over English or Literature.

At least, these used to be the pre-defined stereotypes before we were introduced to the Social Media, Yes even before social media, there’s used to be blogging. But, due to less discoverability, and Internet usage people were skeptical about its hidden potential.

Blogging is more like a tool of communication, in the internet marketing world. You’ve no idea how many people are willing to hear from you.  In this world we live in, our biggest misconception is with the corrupted word ‘Perfect’.
Our indifference is what makes us stand apart. Let’s say there is a niche that you’re highly passionate about, so now you have got an opportunity to communicate the insights of your niche with people spread across the globe, connected through the internet.

Guess how you’re gonna do it?

Ding! Ding!😏

Yup, you guessed it right, it’s Blogging.

Since you’re passionate about your niche, hence you will be best able to educate your prospective followers. You will effortlessly build the rapport with your dedicated followers.

People these days are fed up with the education system, hence people are actively searching for information online. People want to learn & implement, mugging up doesn’t work anymore.

Pitfalls

Yes, there is a pitfall to the Blogging industry, but it can easily be prevented.
Human Attention Span as we know it is decreasing at an alarming rate. Last I checked, we were at four-second. Hence nowadays, in the content marketing industry, it is a video that is capturing attention. The consumption of video as a content is sky-high.

Here are some video marketing stats you need to know:

  • Aberdeen group say 41% of Marketers use video as a strategy
  • According to Animoto, 55% of small and medium-sized business owners have produced or outsourced video production in the last 12 months
  • 94% Business see Video as an effective tool
  • 97% of Businesses are using explainer videos, as it helps them to communicate their Unique Selling Proposition to consumers better.

How does that affect blogging?

It is a preference that affects Blogging. People consuming video content would rather watch a video explaining the concept than read the whole text. But that doesn’t mean that this is the end of text content.

To counteract this situation, marketers are combining the two to derive optimum results. If you’re OR have been in the habit of reading articles or blog, then you must have observed a change in the trend. These days, the article that you read has on the same page it’s video equivalent & podcast equivalent. Podcast equivalent as audio is still killing it. Adapting this strategy would allow you to capture all three audiences at the same time congruently.

You will be able to capture

  1. Readers
  2. Video content consumers
  3. Listeners

If you think that, video-content doesn’t really align with my goals or I’m not comfortable filming myself. Then fear not, there’s a solution for that too.
You’ve got to build authority. You need to align Blogging with Social Media.
Once you grow your fan base at Social Media, then you have a winning hand on this game.

Your followers didn’t just stumble upon you. They are part of your tribe, they follow you for what you stand for. They will definitely click-through those links and read your article and give feedback in real-time. Pretty cool, right!😉

Key Takeaway

  1. Blogging isn’t a waste of time
  2. Blogging most probably isn’t restricted to just “Hobby”
  3. There is no such thing like perfectionism. Be different, express yourself, stand apart.
  4. Video as a content is killing it, but there’s a way to counteract that
  5. Build Authority to get compounded benefits
