What the heck is Digital Marketing anyway?


To understand what Digital Marketing is, it's crucial to understand marketing at its grassroots level.


There's a lot of conjecture about Marketing as it is.


Marketing is simply a pull strategy, it is devised to attract consumer's attention towards the company's/corporation's/businesses product or services.
Sales, on the other hand, is a push strategy, now that people are significantly aware of the product/service. In Sales techniques like cold calling, cold emailing, door-to-door services are put into effect to make sales and achieve targets.

But sales wouldn't work if marketing has been neglected. Marketing is the precursor of sales.

Now that we know of Marketing, let's jump right into Digital Marketing. Digital Marketing is Marketing using Digital Platforms.
Digital Marketing works upon the internet infrastructure, the internet infrastructure lays down the foundation upon which digital marketing works.

The Internet Infrastructure includes Search Engine, Websites/Blogs, social media platforms, forums, miscellaneous virtual communities, mail.


The primary reason that digital marketing derives insurmountable results is that of ever-growing internet users, Internet users over the course of years have compounded with astounding numbers.



Process


Digital Marketing process works upon the funnel which is fairly consistent with your goals & Objectives


Awareness


To build awareness for your brand you need CONTENT, content is indeed the king. Content are of various forms i.e text, images, videos, e-books, & Courses. Your content needs to have less "ME TALK" & more of what your target consumers can derive, that's how you develop long-lasting relationships with them.


Consideration


After having seen your content multiple times, your target audience begins to understand your value proposition. For example, you could be a brand that provides email marketing solutions to individuals & enterprises, so that's what your value proposition is. Now your target customers would consider your product/service as they had exposure from the content that you were propagating.


Conversion


In this phase, your target customer takes the action that you want them to take, it could be a sale, installing your app, booking a demo, downloading a file etc. The better your work on Awareness & Consideration phase the more you can scale up on conversions.
