If a new report is to be believed, Twitter could be thinking of some major changes to the design and functionality of its app. Twitter apparently is considering replacing the button to favorite tweets (star) with a heart. It is said that the company is currently trying this out with a limited number of users on the Android app.
According to this revelation, Twitter is trying out a heart icon within a circle or a standalone borderless heart icon, like on Tumblr and Instagram. It must be noted that this is currently being tested by Twitter, so it might take a while for it to actually replace the current favorite button.
But the fact that the company is even thinking about it tells us that they're ready for some radical changes. Whether hearts will be better than stars is a highly subjective opinion, but considering that a lot of apps and services currently use hearts as a form of liking content online, we think it's worth a try.
That being said, there's every likelihood that Twitter will look to stick with the stars as it has become synonymous with the users now and a drastic change such as this might not go down well with all the users.

The latest one to join the forte was Moments app. Though there is a good deal of activity happening, we are not sure if the strategy adopted by Facebook too is fool proof.
Would these social networking giants be able to stay relevant and equally as important is something that only time will tell. However, as of now, both Facebook and Twitter have a good bit of work to do to be able to continue to remain popular amongst its existing user base and to attract new users.
