If you are a humane person and dont like having to kill critters unless you must then this is the product for you. It safely holds small to medium size rodents. It may hold larger rats only if their tale doesn't get caught in the door. It is so much better than glue traps or traditional snap traps. Since I live in a wooded area I just take the little buggers a few miles away and let them go. Well worth it.
