Large Warehouse Implements OM Plus

A large warehouse organization has implemented OM Plus OMS to help resolve Output Management issues and to monitor ingestion and remote delivery to warehouse sites.

This customer had issues in their current Print process. They would send jobs into the printers buffer and sometimes lost labels when printer buffers cleared without printing the labels. If label jobs need to be reprinted, they need to be regenerated from the host system, which is problematic, especially since the system is not at the warehouse sites.

OM Plus will monitor ingestion and remote delivery to warehouse sites as well as implement printer confirmation, automatic print failover and error notifications, etc.

The main goals of this Output Management Solution

• The OM Plus Output Management System (OMS) will be local to the WMS to ingest document output and be easily manageable
• The WMS will output files to a directory that is matched with a single print destination and the OMS will monitor that directory and submit the job to the correct destination
• The output destination will be configured for the zebra devices using their ZPLII language to confirm proper delivery (print in this case)
• The OMS will stay connected until the print job prints successfully. If the printer is cycled or the print is not successful in a certain amount of time, the job is resubmitted automatically
