Teaching kids safety in and around cars | Drivekool

Growth and development of the Children as a part of the parent is a tricky process. The fast moving
world needs fast moving people and the upcoming generation is training well for the same. Children
ought to move out, wonder and explore. Keeping kids safe at all times can be challenging. Teach your
children about safety in and around cars with the help of this article.
 Awareness on road and traffic: Help your children learn about the various road signs and traffic
lights. You can use colouring books and art to help them catch better. Red: Means to ‘stop’,
Green: Means ‘go’. These are basics one can start with. Teach your children to use ‘zebra
crossings’ at all times.
 Road sense and Ethics: Always teach them to be alert on the road. Use of sidewalks is always the
best option while walking. In case of an absence of sidewalks, teach them to use their senses
optimally. Help them to learn and be alert to sounds of vehicles approaching and horns blowing.
Avoiding any mishap in your absence on the street, one should educate children on basic road
ethics; for instance, never sticking their hands out of any moving vehicle or playing around with
the vehicle controls.
 Use of safety restraints in motor vehicles: Physically children are smaller than average adults.
The standard safety belts in the front seats of the car cars do not properly fit to protect
children’s bodies. One should seat their children in the rear seats of the car, where the seats are
equipped with safety belts and teach them about their functions.
As tempting as it may be to run a quick errand, leaving children attended inside a vehicle even for a
minute can be dangerous. One can never be too careful with the children.
