Gauging Success

It is important to Measure your success, in life as well as at work, by what you have accomplished, not by what still remains undone.  There is always more to be done than you can achieve, and you can never catch up with everything that still needs to be done.  Remember that wins are your team’s, Losses are yours. People will remember your losses much longer than your wins. Start each day with a clean slate and move ahead. Reliving wins and losses won’t help.  Regardless of the score in the game yesterday, today starts out 0-0

It is more important that you assess your accomplishments through the lens of what you started out to do.  Everyone will gauge your success using their own standards and expectations.  You should be mindful of this, but it should not drive your actions or your leadership style. You should measure your success against the goals that you set for yourself, taking into account that you will be judged differently by different constituencies.

If you find that you have pleased everyone, you have done it wrong.
