Now you know the lingo you can start to visit some of the Geordie hotspots. The Angel of the North is one of the most famous landmarks in the North East and needs to be seen up close to be truly appreciated. The Angel was designed by Antony Gormley and is said to represent the transition from an industrial age to an information age, as well as symbolizing people’s dreams.

If shopping therapy is more your thing then try out Intu Eldon Square featuring an impressive list of over 150 high street names. With shops including River Island, Hollister, New Look, John Lewis, Marks and Spencer’s, Adidas and Apple it’s not hard to see why the Geordies love it!

If food is what you want then you have to try Artisan on Stoddart Street. Artisan have won various awards for their food over the past few years including being voted amongst the top 25 restaurants nationally to visit for Sunday lunch – what a belta! How to: Get mortal like a Geordie

In Newcastle you don’t have a night out in town for a few drinks, you have a neet in the toon and get pure mortal! Home to some of the biggest clubs in the UK, it’s not hard to see why Newcastle is a belta of a night out.

Tup Tup Palace is one of Newcastle’s premier nightclubs located on St Nicholas Street. It is known locally for its good music and atmosphere and even has an indoor waterfall - giving it that extra VIP feel.

Bijoux located on the ‘Diamond Strip’ (Collingwood Street) is a favourite for the Newcastle locals. The bar describes itself as “the busiest little bar in Newcastle”. Bijoux is also popular with the Geordie Shore Crew and they are often shown on the MTV programme partying in the clubs VIP area.

Madame Koo’s, also located on the Diamond strip is another favourite of the MTV Geordie Shore crew and claims to offer a ‘sneaky disco’ alongside it’s booths, tunnels and VIP area. With a unique interior of exposed bricks and vines it’s not the average VIP club, however it opens until 3am and has an extensive cocktail menu meaning it gets the thumbs up from us!
