Weddings are one of the most awaited time in a person's life. If you are a girl, I'm sure you must have been planning your dream Wedding since you were 5 yearss old. Not only is weddings a union of two souls, but it is also it is the time to celebrate the love they have for each other.

Couples spend thousands of dollars to make their wedding as special as they can. And, since this is the most important day of their lives, they wish to have all the eyes on them. If you're arguing that the Couple are attention seeking, I would disagree with you. Planning a wedding means spending days and months stressing over various aspects, shelling out a major part of your savings, trying to meet the families expectations and make the guests happy. It's but obvious that the couple wants the spotlight on them. They have waited their whole life for this moment and when they are finally at the altar, they don't want anyone or anything to ruin this moment.

But, some guests just don't seem to understand this. One of the most trending wedding story of this year on the internet is about a couple who got upstaged at their own wedding by their own bestman. From all the wedding horror stories I have come across, this is surely the worst one. A bride recently shared her wedding horror story with Slate's Dear Prudence column asking for advice.

What happened?

The brides says, "My husband and I started dating, got pregnant, had a child, moved in together, bought a house, and got a dog in that order. Our friends and family have asked us for years why we weren’t married yet. We always pushed it off to build better lives. We’ve done really well for ourselves and finally reached a point where we could afford a huge blowout wedding to celebrate our lives with everyone we know and love. My husband’s best friend, ‘John,’ was the best man/officiant."

The day finally arrived. The couple had spent $80,000 to have their dream wedding. The setting was beautiful. Everyone was very happy especially the couple's families.  Everything was going alright until the bestman decided to steal the show in the most inappropriate way possible. I repeat, the MOST INAPPROPRIATE WAY POSSIBLE!

Midway through the vows, the best man, John, got "caught up in the moment" and decided to propose to his longtime girlfriend "Jane" who was also present during the ceremony as a guest. Not only this, he went on to announce her pregnancy too. I mean, WHAT!!!!

“I couldn’t even hear the vows my husband wrote or the rest of the ceremony over the noise of Jane’s happy sobs, her very surprised family who were also guests and people seated nearby congratulating her. Even the videographer cut to her frequently during the ceremony and you can’t hear anything over the chatter,” the bride explained.

This was just the start to the worst day of the couple's life. John didn't leave any chance to be the center of attention throughout the celebration. During the reception when John raised the toast, he apologized for getting caught up in the moment and proposing to his girlfriend but then again continued talking about his "lovely" relationship with his girlfriend Jane. The couple was rarely or in other words, hardly mentioned in his speech. Rather, he made the speech all about himself and his girlfriend.

During the reception, John and Jane were the primary focus of the guests and the couple was swept aside. Well, it's not over. John even went ahead and requested that the band play a special song for he and Jane to dance to, while the actual bride and groom watched on in despair.

“I am so shocked and angry that I keep asking myself if this is real life. My husband hasn’t spoken to John since the wedding and our mutual friends think what he did was rude but that my husband should just get over it. My husband has joked that he’ll resume his friendship when John and Jane give him a $40,000 check for their half of the wedding,” the bride said.

Another similar instance occured last year where one of the guest decided to propose to one of the bridesmaids (who he was dating) during the toast. He, too, requested the couple to grant them permission for  special dance. They became the spotlight of the wedding. The bride later informed that the couple broke up few months after the wedding was over. "They just ruined my special day. They are anyways no longer together," she said.

There have been many instances where the guests have tried to be the center of attention at someone else's wedding. Sometimes, they ask the couple's permission to propose to their girlfriend, sometimes they do it out of the blue. Everyone needs to get this one thing straight, proposing at someone else's wedding is extremely horrible. This is their special day and they have spent their money and sweat to make this as perfect as they can. You have no right to steal their spotlight. Most of the brides or the grooms agree because they don't want to hurt their feelings. Even if they look happy, remember deep within they are not.

So my message to all you readers is, don't try to steal the focus from the couple in anyway.
