12 Things To Do The Night Before You Say ‘I Do’

It’s been a long and drawn out process, and you’re now on the brink of being married. Everything you have envisioned and worked towards is now (almost) a reality. The night before the Wedding can be quite unnerving with a mix of emotions running high. So, spend the day running last minute unavoidable errands, the evening relaxing, and the night sleeping tight.

Here’s a quick and rough guide – one or more of these might just be what you need:

1. Final Vendor Calls

Use the day to make one final call to every vendor. You don’t want any unpleasant surprises or mix-ups tomorrow.

2. Packed Bags

The wedding day outfits for the bride, her tribe and everyone else should already be ready and packed. Take some time to run a quick check and confirm everything is in order. Keep your bags separate. If you’re directly flying out for the honeymoon, keep a separate bag that is ready to be tossed into the boot.

3. Wedding Itinerary

Print out the Wedding Itinerary and do a quick run through with your family, bridesmaids and the groom. Everyone needs to be on the same page. Give copies to either the maid of honor or anyone else who is going to take over, so there’s no fretting over the schedule later.

4. Emergency Kit

Throw in an extra pair of sandals and flip-flops – this is a must. Other essentials like dry shampoo, wet wipes, cosmetics, bobby pins, hair ties or anything that might need a backup goes in here. Also, have some cash handy – it will come handy for tips or miscellaneous expenses. Don’t forget to throw in a bottle of Tylenol or Advil, some band-aids and other just-in-case’s.

5. Self-Indulgence

Get a refreshing manicure and pedicure, you could definitely use the massage that comes with it. Rejuvenate with a face pack that has been tried and tested (don’t even think of using any new products), sooth your eyes with slices of cucumber. Wash your hair, so that it’s just enough silky for the next day, plus it quite relaxing. Treat yourself with a bubble bath, perhaps.

6. Family Time

Spend all the time you can with family and friends, watch a movie or funny clips, lighten up and have a good laugh. Happy conversation and just that.

7. Practise Your Vows

Just real them out loud a few times, in front of the mirror. If you have a few friends around, they could help too. Edit out anything that makes you fumble. Most importantly – practise, practise and once more.

8. Chargers And Gadgets

Sort out all of your gadgets, make sure everything is charged. Have separate chargers for your phone and don’t mix them up with your travel/honeymoon bag.

9. Wedding Rings

This might seem obvious, but give them one last check before you wrap up the day and hand them over.

10. Food

Eat loads of fresh fruits, nuts and protein. Stay hydrated. Keep away from grabbing a pizza, a big mac or anything unhealthy. You don’t want to end up feeling uneasy or with a bloat. It has been said enough, but we will say it anyway – No alcohol the night before!

11. Set Your Alarm

Set the alarm at least thirty minutes before you plan to start your day. In fact, put it on more than one device and have someone check in on you if possible.

12. Sleep

Hit the bed as early as you can. Put your phone in silent mode and away. Staring into screens can meddle with your sleep. Avoid coffee before bed, and if you feel the need, decaf is what you want. Beauty sleep is a must, it’s called that for a reason!
