Jennifer Aniston recently married Justin Theroux, and that happy event of course leads to the question…”Is she planning to change her name?”. While most women who trade on their names professionally (doctors, lawyers, realtors, writers, television/movie stars etc.) opt to keep their maiden names in some way, name change after marriage is always a personal choice. Amal Clooney is a perfect example of a woman bucking “name change tradition” by taking her spouse’s name.

When Jennifer Aniston was married to Brad Pitt she did take his name legally, but continued to work under her maiden name. I am curious if Jennifer will make the name change commitment in her second marriage. If the key factors that influence name change are explored, her age and occupation would skew Jennifer’s choice towards keeping her maiden name in some way. The great thing is…it’s Jennifer’s choice..all women in the U.S. have the right to choose to change their names after marriage or not. We do hope if Jennifer is considering changing her name that she plays the MarriedNameGame to find her ultimate last name option!
