Enter a secret garden tucked away in Chelsea, just off King’s Road for a breath of quintessential English country garden tranquillity. And also incredible food! We stopped off at Stanley’s restaurant and bar on Sydney Street to enjoy a stunning meal with some of the finest seasonal British produce.

Covered and heated all year round, the courtyard is so pretty, with canopies of blossoms and snug fleeces to throw over chilly legs. Inside, the Orangery and Dining Room are just as special, with soft leather bench seating and pretty light fittings. The wallpaper is even designed by the owner himself, Hugh, who made us feel so welcome as we took our seats.
Relaxed and contemporary, Stanley’s is available to hire exclusively, and would be such a gorgeous choice for an intimate wedding party, or whatever celebration you’re planning! They have a range of spaces and layouts to suit every event. The fresh, seasonal menu changes every seven weeks and is packed with the most delicious dishes. They can even tailor menus for your specific event.
We enjoyed British burrata with courgette, peas and pesto to start as well as asparagus with a Burford Brown egg – absolutely divine. We followed with Atlantic cod and Jerusalem artichoke which flaked to perfection, as well as West Country spring lamb, which were both equally delicious. To finish, we chose the rhubarb Eton Mess, which was so colourful and vibrant, it was such a joy to eat. And we couldn’t leave without sampling the cocktail menu – the drinks are amazing at Stanley’s, it would be such fun to have a birthday drinks celebration here and try them all!
The space is versatile, the staff are friendly and the food is exquisite. They even welcome dogs! To be in London, but so tucked away was such a treat, I’d definitely recommend Stanley’s for any event.
