Photo booths VS Selfie pods
Pretty much everyone has used a Photo Booth at a wedding at some point right? Well, now there is a new kid on the block. Say hello to the “selfie pod”.
We are going to take a look at the pros and cons of each so that it is much easier to make that decision for your wedding.
Photo booth
Photo booths have been a staple at weddings for as long as we can remember, you select your props, maybe a pair of comedy glasses and a funky hat, and you go inside the booth with your friend, pull the curtain and pull silly faces and take photos.
The photos print and you have a forever memory of the moment, to keep in your wallet or purse, or stick in a scrapbook. They generally have an attendant and are usually quite large.

- Private booth so nobody can see you
Cons
- They usually take up a very large area
- They require an attendant and quite a lot of setup time which also increases the price
- The prints are expensive, so packages are usually a lot more expensive
- They aren’t usually particularly attractive to look at
- No digital sharing
Selfie Pods
Selfie Pods are the new kid on the block. They can be set up in under ten minutes and require no attendant. They can do much more than the standard photo booth too. Selfie Pods can take photos, GIFs and those cool Boomerang-style clips that everyone does on Instagram. All of these can be sent to the user’s phone instantly via Airdrop, SMS or email in a format that is ready to go for social media, or just to stay as a memory on the user’s phone.
With Selfie pods, you can use props, or use the digital props included in the software. They also come in all sorts of different sleek designs, from modern to rustic, and take up barely any space in comparison. You can set up green screens or even virtual green screens so that absolutely any background imaginable can be used.

- No attendant is required and no prints so they are half the price of a standard photo booth
- GIFs and Boomerangs as well as photos
- The whole album can be sent to the bride and groom after the event so that they can keep the memories forever as well
Cons
- No prints
- Open space, so everybody can see you pulling silly faces (Introverts might be put off)
We think that Selfie Pods are great. They are definitely very trendy right now, and for the price, it costs to rent one, well worth it in our opinion. If we had to pick, it would be the Selfie Pod every single time. In fact, we want one for the office.
