Beautiful Vintage Wedding Ideas

A Vintage Wedding theme has been a firm favourite for years now, and it seems that this style isn’t going anywhere! You can go down a number of different routes with a vintage wedding theme, whether you’re going for the roaring 20s, flamboyant 60s or simply a wedding with a ‘vintage feel’. So let’s take a look at some elegant wedding ideas that that have a sprinkling of vintage magic.

There are tons of different options when it comes to the bridal outfit, and it completely depends on the vintage era you have chosen. If you’ve opted for a fabulous 50s style wedding, I suggest a short, tea-length wedding gown. Lace sleeves will look beautifully elegant, and are perfect for a vintage affair. A birdcage veil is the perfect finishing touch – you could even add some dainty white gloves. If you want something with Great Gatsby glamour, an elaborately embellished gown is the perfect choice. Opt for a dress with a dropped waist, cowl neck or even feathering! A beaded headpiece is all you need in terms of hair accessories – you’ll look divine!

Your wedding décor is the thing that will help tie your theme together. I recommend choosing a couple of focal points of your reception that effortlessly reflect your vintage style. I love the thought of using an old-fashioned, vintage bicycle on your wedding day. It could be used in a number of different ways – you could add signposts to the handles and wheels to direct your guests to the bar, dancing area or toilets. If you’re lucky enough to source a bike with a wicker basket attached to the front, you could fill it with beautiful blooms and place near your wedding venue entrance. It’ll set the scene as your guests enter your venue – all while looking bloomin’ beautiful!

Antique photo frames are a must-have when it comes to any vintage wedding. You can use them throughout your wedding décor and you’ll have great fun getting creative with them. They can be used as table number signs, signposts and directions, or even to add something extra to your wedding gift table. I also think that they’d look fab full of photographs of you as a couple throughout your relationship. Your guests will love looking at them and it would be a definite talking point.

Distressed leather suitcases can also be a wonderful addition to a vintage wedding. Stack around your wedding venue to transport your guests to a bygone era, or use as somewhere to store your wedding gifts and cards. Fill with embroidered handkerchiefs that your guests can use at the ceremony for their happy tears. If you’re a DIY savvy bride, sew in your initials for a personal touch – this way they can double up as quaint wedding favours.

If you’re having trouble deciding on the perfect table centrepiece, fear not! We can help you. Vintage teapots resting on weathered, antique books look absolutely gorgeous. You can leave your teapots empty, but they’ll also look lovely full of pretty flowers. This is a fab choice if you’re having a vintage tea party wedding too! For maximum impact, match your china wear and cutlery to your table centrepieces and you’ve got yourself an incredible wedding table!

While we’re talking about your reception tables, we’ve got tons of fab place name ideas that you’ll love. Our Victorian style keys hold place cards, and make the perfect vintage place setting. The ‘Key to my Heart’ place card holders can also be used as wedding favours.
