KFC Hawaiian Double Down

It’s back!!!

The Double down is back and in a Hawaiian version this time, which I think means they put a piece of pineapple on it because we all know that makes any meal Hawaiian like when I had Hawaiian Fruit Loops the other morning, anyway…

As you can see from the above picture the Double Down is one of KFC’s greatest achievements. I imagine they had a team of Food scientists working on this for years before releasing it to the public. Scientists working in the face of adversity, being told over and over again that it can’t be done, that you can’t use chicken as a bun but then their hard work paid off and they cracked the formula and here it is in all it’s glory.

I know how wrong this “burger” is but I think that is what makes it all the more beautiful and I can’t wait to try it. Time is limited though and I’m crunching the numbers to find a time that I can do so.

I only just heard last night they had released the Double Down again, but the television advertisement informed me that I only have 3 weeks remaining in to acquire one for myself. Why haven’t I seen this earlier?! but let’s not dwell on that right now.

Here’s the thing, I don’t believe that you can eat one alone, that’s just not right, nobody eats something like this as a daily meal or even just as a part of their weekly/fortnightly/monthly take away routine. This piece of art needs to be enjoyed with someone else and for me that someone else is my brother Colin.

Colin and I have enjoyed many of the previous creations released by take away food chains that the average person turn their nose up at due to how different they are, worrying about how much fat and calories they contain, or that they would instantly have a heart attack upon eating such wonderful food. All valid concerns but also ones that should be pushed aside for a moment in time.

This is a bit of a logistics and timing problem too as we live 389km’s apart, but we are comforted in knowing that others have overcome so much more to achieve so much less. Colin is also a baker which means that once I am in the same city we have to synchronise awake times but it can be done.

I don’t know the exact date when our time is up to try this but I don’t remember ever being mislead, lied to, or unable to totally believe the ideas put forward by an ad on TV so I’m going to take this ad at it’s word and therefore from today I have 2 weeks and 6 days to synchronise diaries (which neither of us own) with my brother.

We only need to eat one in that time but it can be done, the prize outweighs the obstacles. Stay tuned to see if we made it, if we were able to achieve the possible!
