So many winners came out this week, and picking one issue is just impossible, so I’ll choose two, Planetary #23 and Solo #5-featuring Darwyn Cooke. Planetary #23 gives us the long awaited origin of The Drummer, but what happens around that story is what really gets my blood pumping. If you are waiting to read this book until after it’s been collected then you have more will power than I do.

Darwyn Cooke’s Solo #5 was just pure comic brilliance. We get to see King Farraday, Slam Bradley, and Batman all in one issue. We get superheroes, we get gin soaked ladies in a bar, and we get espionage. What more can you ask for? If you were a fan of his DC: The New Frontier from 2004, then this issue is a must have for your collection.
