We are always being encouraged to turn away from our intuition. From sisterhood. From regarding anything as magical or mysterious. “Be logical!” they say. “Competition between women is inevitable,” they splutter. “There’s a perfectly rational explanation,” they retort.

I call bullshit on all that. Because we can live in any kind of world we want. So I choose to live in a world where I know that the strongest and truest voice is my own inner guidance. I choose to live in a world where I celebrate other women and love them without reservation. And I choose to look for magic around every corner.

No matter whether you are aware of it or not, we are all in a constant process of creating our own lives. And we have so many choices to make. I think some of the most vital questions to ask ourselves are…

How do I want to spend my time? Am I comfortable where I am? Do I want to play it safe, or do I want to learn, grow, evolve, and become the best version of myself? Do I want to keep challenging myself, or would I prefer to nurse my wounds?

Who do I want to allow into my life? Will I just endure with any old person who shows up, or will I consciously select people who want the best for me? Do I want to be around people who encourage me, or would I rather be with those who are threatened by my joy?

How am I going to support myself? Will I take note of — and provide for — my emotional needs? Will I allow myself to have a spiritual practice? What does Radical self love look like in action?

I found myself asking all of these questions a few years ago. My marriage was falling apart, my intuition had been turned down to an inaudible whisper, and instead of taking care of myself emotionally, I had chosen to bury myself in work. But that all changed when I was invited to join a group of witches for a night out in New York City…
