Sommelier Summer School
This August, the Wine School is hosting it’s 10th annual Accelerated Summer Wine School. Earn your sommelier certification, taste great wine, and meet other people who share your passion.
It’s a week that will change your life. During Summer School, we offer the Foundation and Intermediate certifications in a single intensive week. You can also combine both of these classes into the CORE wine program and earn your sommelier certification via the National Wine School. For our postgraduate students, we offer our Advanced Old World Master Class.

Two New Summertime Classes
We just added two blockbuster classes to our sold out roster of summertime classes. Grab seats while they are available.
Wine 101: Introduction to Wine | August 3rd at 7:30 pm You can’t go wrong with a classic. We’ve had dozens of requests for another 101 this summer. One of our favorite classes, and a great place to start learning about wine. https://www.vinology.com/class/101/
Lux Rum: Exotic Cocktails and Rare Rums | August 18th at 7:30pm We just scored some rare barrel-aged rums from Venezuela, Saint Lucia, and Panama. Some of these beauties have been aging in barrels for over 20 years. These are too nice to keep to ourselves, so we built this amazing class around them. Highly recommended. https://www.vinology.com/class/rum/

Taut red fruit with layers of wild rose and honeysuckle. It is a lithe expression of Pinot Noir that offers great finesse and clarity.A beautiful bottle of Pinot Noir at a fantastic price. A Chairman’s Selection in the Pennsylvania Wine & Spirits Stores.

Deep, lush and velvety. It is full bodied to the extreme, what with it’s alcohol content pushing toward 17%. Flavors are reminiscent of Hermitage, with iron, game, and burning herbs in the mix. A monster-piece of a Zinfandel. Huge fruit and a Syrah-like complexity. This wine will topple you with a sip.

Aromas of cigar box and burnt anise open into dark berry notes. Espresso and tea leaf lend complexity to the savory fruit compote and rich texture of this lovely wine. A top-notch Chianti from a co-op with a keen eye towards quality. A Chairman’s Selection from the Wine & Spirits Stores in Pennsylvania.

Burnt incense, toasted allspice, and chocolate-covered cherries bobbing in a gigantic vat of blackberry jam. Oh, and the tannins are big and round as the face of a velvet dolphin. This is a bottle of pure hedonism from a cult winery. I fully expect to drink this on my personal yacht while Kayne helicopters down to serve me Martian caviar on a plate made of orphans’ tears.

A cool climate chardonnay that has little in common with its compatriots further north in Napa. Flavors of sea salt, melon, and tangerine. A taut style of chardonnay that shows classic elements of Chablis.

A stellar bottle of Napa red. All you merlot haters should pick up a bottle, just to see how wrong you can be. If Tom Hardy was a wine, he would be a bottle of this juice: muscular, dramatic, and brooding. Toasted spice, belgian truffle, and creme de cassis.

This is what I want from a Saumur Champigny (A Cabernet Franc from the Loire Valley in France): fresh cherry, delicate tannins, light body, and inexpensive. This is a classic café wine , at least in Paris. Have a glass with a simple meal at home.
