Whether you are Moving into your own home for the first time or relocating in the Delray Beach area, we can assure you this move will be rewarding.
When you move into a new apartment community, you are not only creating a new lifestyle, you also have the opportunity to create new friendships. You will be living next to these neighbors, within pretty close proximity for an extended amount of time. The better you know them, the less of a chance you will have negative experiences. Plant the seed of communication and who knows? You may have just created a lifelong friendship.
So once you’ve settled in and have been greeted by all of your lovely neighbors, how will you proceed with welcoming new individuals into your community? You could always meet the moving truck in the parking lot, grab a few boxes for them while you introduce yourself or you could arrive at their front door later in the day with a plate of cookies; however, moving is a stressful situation that often brings out the worst in people. Is this really how you wish to make your first impression?
We recommend throwing together a small gift of essentials that will show that you understand the stress of their moving situation, that you care enough to introduce yourself, and that you are willing to help in times of need.
We have compiled a short list of ideas that will get you started:
- A Menu Binder
You will not know as you trek over to your new neighbor whether or not they are from Delray Beach, so why not prepare them with a menu binder of all the best restaurants in the area? In fact, we compiled a list of the restaurants we consider the best. You can include the menu, the phone number, the address, and maybe a short review or recommendation. Moving is tedious…moving while you are hungry is unbearable so we are certain any person moving to the area will appreciate this thoughtful gift.
- A Move-In Essential Kit
Creating a home out of an empty space takes work. How many times have you moved into a new home only to realize you have no idea where you stored essentials? Prepare a move-in Essential Kit for your new neighbor by selecting items that you forgot during your last move.
A few ideas for things to include:
- Trash bags
- Dish soap
- Dishwasher soap
- Air freshener
- A small tool kit
- A box of nails (varying sizes)
- Extension cord
- Disposable plates, bowls, and silverware
Anything else you think they may appreciate during their move can be tossed into the kit. We also recommend creating a list of important local phone numbers as well.
- Meal(s) Ready to Eat
This one will take a bit of work and possibly communication with other existing neighbors, but it would be much appreciated! Chat with your current neighbors about creating a meal or two for the new family (especially if they have children). Deliver the food the night they move in with disposable utensils. Think about the stress you would be wiping off their plate?
