I've found myself inexplicably drawn to the color pink this Summer, and turns out I'm not alone: Barbiecore is everywhere at the moment. As Vogue explains, it's a little Valentino fall 2020 runway, a little excitement over the upcoming Barbie movie starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling (!!), and a little summer dopamine dressing. Pink comes in all different kinds of shades—my last pink outfit was definitely in the bright category—and while there's a Kardashian way to wear Barbiecore, here's how I'm doing it.
Monica Nera Maya dress
Even before Barbiecore was a thing, pink has been one of my favorite colors to wear. It's an inherently feminine color, so I've found it works best in pieces that aren't too ruffly or lacy—too many frills can look juvenile or costumey, at least on me. This dress strikes a good balance between softness and structure; the cocoon-like shape is kind of fashiony and chic, yet the ruffled straps keep it from looking too serious. There is a lot of fabric to this dress, but one of the coolest features is that you can kind of shift it around to create volume where you want it (you can adjust the ruffles on the straps too). Oh, and did I mention it has pockets? Monica Nera is an independent Polish designer and I have been obsessed with this particular dress ever since I saw it on Grace Atwood's IG last summer; I finally managed to score one on Poshmark. The fabric is super lightweight and perfect for summer, although my one criticism is that it wrinkles pretty easily, as I'm sure you can see in the photos. I'm wearing a medium here, although I probably could have taken a small—like I said, there's a lot of fabric and it's a very loose shape. It also comes in a top, which is possibly even cuter.
Gap denim jacket
Yep, it's my denim jacket again, and incredibly, I actually had to take it off because it was so hot the day we shot these photos (normally August is foggy and cold in San Francisco, but we've been having delightfully good weather). I wore it to provide a little contrast in the way of structure and gender neutrality—in other words, it helps tone down the volume and girlishness of the dress. And if you haven't seen any of the gazillion posts where I've featured this jacket before, I'm wearing a medium.
Staud Bissett bag
This is one of my all-time favorite summer bags—I love the simplicity of the shape, and in spite of the fact that it's ivory, it remarkably doesn't get too dirty. (After a few seasons of not making the Bissett, Staud appears to be bringing it back with a slight update, although I've linked to a more accurate dupe below.) I could have gone with a more over-the-top bag here, but I think its minimal vibe works nicely with the whole look.

I've been meaning to feature these sandals for awhile—I've had them for several months, and I've been wearing them quite a bit IRL. I have never been a big platform wedge person because I generally find the style to be clunky and heavy on my foot, but these are the first pair I've had that feels manageable. I've also noticed other women really eyeing them every time I wear them. They definitely feel more ladylike with the bow detail on top, but the woven detail on the side adds a nice bit of texture, and the neutral color of the platform has an elongating effect on your legs, which counteracts any clunkiness. I have these in a size 39, which is what I usually order in Sarah Flint Shoes, however I wish I had sized down to a 38.5—my left foot is smaller than my right, and because that shoe is a tad looser, the straps tend to rub on the back of my left heel. Otherwise, they're incredibly comfortable (like all Sarah Flint shoes!) and I can't recommend them enough—I don't know if Barbie would wear a wedge, but these were enough to make me a convert!
