3 Ways To Feel In Control

This post is now in the guidelines of the FTC We all have those days, weeks and months when we feel like everything is getting on top of us. It is not surprising when we juggle so much and fulfil so many roles. We are often trying to balance work with parenthood wth relationships and all that comes with being a homeowner. It is a lot to stay in control of on a good day, so throw in an emergency, a family crisis or an illness and it can become near impossible to keep your head above water. We know what it is like, which is why today we want to share with you 3 ways to feel in control and glide through those tough weeks.  Work from a to-do list This is first on the list as it will be instrumental in helping you to feel in control every day. Ideally, you will want to write your to-do list the evening before, when you are ready to wind down and relax. By writing it out at this point, you can then forget about it until you need to get working on it the following day. Pop everything down there, from your appointment with the eye doctor to mopping the floors. If it needs your attention that day, write it down.  You can keep monthly task lists to get those larger projects covered off and then daily to-do lists. Keep referring back to it and tick things off as you go along.  Involve other people You might get up on a Saturday with a very clear plan of everything that you would like to do that weekend. Perhaps you have a family day out in mind, followed by getting a pile of laundry done before heading out to walk the dog. Tasks are logical and sensible in your mind and you can see how to get things covered off. However, you have not shared the plan with the other people in your household. Before you know it, your partner is getting ready to head out for a run just when you wanted to get the kids out for the day, your teen then heads out the door and your little ones are still careering around the house in their pyjamas. You can feel the control slipping away, but if you had involved everyone else in your plan, all could have been avoided. Let everyone know the game plan. Every time.  Embrace the art of acceptance This one is probably one of the hardest things to do and yet it is the most powerful, so once you have mastered it you should feel in control most of the time. This might sound like the opposite of all that you are trying to achieve, but you need to accept that sometimes you need to just go with it and let things go. When you get up in the morning and you have water leaking through your ceiling, your child is running a fever and your dog has just been sick on the rug, accept that this will be a tough day and you are not going to achieve everything that you had planned.  Whilst we appreciate that this does not get your to-do list done that day, it does allow you to stay in control and make choices.  Disclosure: This is not a sponsored post.
