Feeling Sluggish? Green Smoothies Aren’t Always The Answer

Feeling Sluggish? If the thought of a wheatgrass shot makes your stomach turn, but you feel like there’s no other alternative to boosting your Energy Levels, then it’s time to think again. Superfood green smoothies aren’t the only way to see a surge in your mojo. You may feel sluggish for a number of reasons. You might have a low red blood count, you might not have eaten a balanced diet, you may have overloaded on carbs, or you might have an underlying medical issue that needs further investigation. Being proactive with parts of your lifestyle that you can control could help you discover why you feel like you’re running on empty and help you feel rejuvenated and ready for what life has to throw at you once again. Sleep It may sound obvious, but you need to make sure that you are getting enough sleep each night. While you may feel that your hours catching some z’s are about right, the quality of your sleep might not be. Do you have vivid dreams? Do you wake up a few times each night? Do you toss and turn a lot? These disturbances to your sleep routine can make you wake up each morning feeling like you need to head back to bed. Try to develop a sound sleep routine before you hit the sack. Banish all technology and social media at least two hours before bed, scrap the late night coffee, have a hot soak in the tub and read a book. Having a more relaxed and calm mindset can aid in the quality of sleep you achieve and have a positive impact on your health. Eating Food with a low glycemic index and with less refined carbohydrates will release sugar at a slower rate into our bloodstream. This can help increase energy levels as you no longer have sugar spikes followed by crushing sleepy lows. Developing a more stable sugar level alongside a wealth of antioxidant-rich fruit and vegetables can lead to a surge in energy levels. More often than not, the mid-afternoon lull can become overwhelming, and you can feel fatigued leading to you picking up a candy bar or a pastry. Instead of doing this, opt for a piece of fruit or some porridge to help reinvigorate your mojo. Banish The Stress If you have an overbearing boss setting unrealistic targets and deadlines, you may find yourself working long hours and enduring untold levels of stress. The mental focus needed to combat this overwhelming situation can leave you feeling sluggish and unwell. Being stressed can make you reach for the comfort food, prevent you from exercising and lead to a more sedentary lifestyle. Although it takes effort, when you head home, try to head out for a jog, a walk or a bike ride to get outside and take your mind away from work. Doing this can help you manage your stress more effectively and help you look after your mental well being. While a green smoothie can be a quick fix when you feel sluggish, take a look at this advice and reassess your entire lifestyle to help you get your energy levels back on track.
