In 1768, the Powers-That-Be Tried and Failed to Seize Americans' Guns. Wash-Rinse-Repeat in 2022.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Reading about history is fascinating. Living our own period of history sucks!

Yet I recently found comfort in a brilliant Twitter thread written by The Red-Headed Libertarian revealing the futile (yet eerily familiar) attempts by the British to deprive Americans of their firearms back in 1768.

It didn't work in 1768.

It won't work in 2022.

It'll fail when they try it again in 2237, 3629 and 4152 anno Domini...if the Good Lord allows this cockeyed planet to limp along for a few more millenia!

All we have to do is match our Founding Fathers' steely resolve.

But first, a brief but surprising history about firearms in general.

Fair Warning...and sold for $1.9 Million

According to that bastion of all truth, Wikipedia, firearms have existed since the mid-10th century. I had no idea!

Basically, as soon as the Chinese invented gunpowder, mankind began blasting it at each other. Soon they were adding shrapnel to their "fire lances." Isn't that just typical of human nature!?!

Silent Cal was right: "Four-fifths of all our troubles would disappear, if we would only sit down and keep still." I've tried it. It really works! But "sit down and shut up" goes against our human propensity to constantly screw with each other. So mankind kept inventing and refining until they created firearms so gorgeous, so historical, so precious that they go for millions under the gavel at Sotheby's and Christies.

A Lesson in Futility

If you were watching the X22 Report on Saturday, you've already heard Dave read the excellent Twitter thread researched and written by The Red-Headed Libertarian (aka Josie Glabach). But if you missed it, it's so brilliant, it bears repeating.

When you realize the same ilk are making the same demands and using the same techniques in the same futile attempt to deprive Americans of their tools for enjoyment, sport, protection and acquiring tasty protein in 2022 as they did in 1768, it's oddly comforting. They can't come up with any new ideas so they keep recycling the same tired, old tricks that didn't work 254 years ago!

Feel free to pause the slideshow to read it at your leisure.
Had you ever heard of The Declaration of the Causes and Necessity of Taking Up Arms before!? Me neither! But then again, I'd never heard of the Olive Branch Petition either. They prove our Founding Fathers were incredible men of peace who only took up arms most unwillingly as the very last, last, last resort.

What If...

What if, just for the sake of argument, all 13 colonies had followed Boston's example by turning in their muskets and flintlocks for British "safekeeping." In light of Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee last weekend, it really makes ya think.

Instead of singing, "Oh, say can you see" we'd be singing, "God save our gracious queen, God save our noble queen..." while waving the Union Jack. There would've been groups of Americans marching in the Platinum Jubilee Pageant/Parade, probably wearing buckskin knee breaches and coonskin hats or some such nonsense!

We would have to "buy" the convenient headline "Prince Andrew Has Covid" as a plausible explanation for that pedo's absence from his own mother's Platinum Jubilee. Covid, my ass! For shame!

We would have to salute the Royal Box and pretend not to be disgusted that Prince Charles and his beloved uncle, Lord Mountbatten "known to be a homosexual with a perversion for young boys", preferably boys in uniform, were both attendees of the infamous Bilderberg Meetings.

Have We Exchanged Elizabeth II for Pelosi I?

While watching George Washington and his regal entourage arrive for his inauguration on April 30th, 1789, a bystander was heard to remark, "I fear we have exchanged George III for George I."

Of course, his fears were unfounded in 1789 but now they ring eerily prophetic.

Just like the British monarchy, our government is largely unelected. Installed, not elected.

Just like the British government, each year members of our government and CEOs toddle off to take their marching orders from the Bilderberg Meeting.

Little by little, our government seeks to render our beloved Constitution null-and-void just has Parliament has eroded the Magna Carta until it's weak, broken and toothless while Trudeau has kicked the crap outta Canada's Charter of Rights and Freedoms.

And, by dint of those surprisingly obvious FFs aka mass shootings, our government is especially keen to deprive Americans of their God-given Constitutional Right to keep and bear arms. When Conservatives speedily expose all the glaring flaws in their latest FF, then they try bargaining:  gas cards for guns. It's an oldie but a goodie and, like the Bostonians of yesteryear, some Californians were stupid enough to fall for it!

Ultimately, their latest gun grab won't work. Just like the door-to-door jibby-jibby-jabbing didn't work. And the door-to-door Covid testing didn't work this latest firearm firestorm in Congress will prove just as futile.

It didn't work in 1768. It won't work in 2022. Same tired old ideas and bargaining chips. Same crap, different century. Hold the line, Patriots! #trumptriumphant
