Nostalgia for Ottawa: "Everyone [was] trying to out-nice each other."


Where do I go to become an honorary Canadian? I've lost my heart to the wonderful Canadian Patriots. If you too became hopelessly addicted to the truckers and livestreams of the Ottawa Convoy, then you'll be thrilled to know the Canadians have barely even  begun to fight for their Liberty. They've rested, regrouped and are still rolling for Freedom! When the poster for a Freedom Event states the date of the event as being, "Every Saturday," you know this Freedom thing ain't going away.

Remember when you first heard of the Canadian Freedom Convoy to Ottawa?
My heart leaped but I couldn't explain why. Still can't! The Covid nonsense barely affected my little family so it wasn't that.

For this American, the Convoy ripped away the gloom and discouragement oppressing our spirits since the 2020 election was stolen from our beloved President Trump.

Magically, the Convoy made colors more vivid. The sun shone more brightly. My writer's block was shattered and words flowed smoothly again. It was just so damn exciting! Like living in 1776!

But it was hard to find information about this new Convoy so on Jan. 23rd, I started collecting, I mean aggregating, every shred of info about the Ottawa Freedom Convoy I could find in one central place so others wouldn't have to search as I was doing. I packratted headlines, pictures, videos, memes. YouTube removed videos just as fast as I shared 'em to the site! By February 6th, the Convoy webpage had become so large and unwieldy, I had to spin it off into "Current" (still updated every day!) and "Archive."

As tensions in Ottawa grew, our addiction to those wonderful people basking in Freedom also grew.

Tell me if this sounds familiar: You finally fall into bed exhausted after hours of watching the livestreamers tramp up-and-down Ottawa's streets.

An hour later, you wake up and immediately check Zot or TravelFun69's livestreams just to be sure that our truckers are still there.

You can only fall asleep again after the reassurance that those big, beautiful, slumbering trucks and the incredible men and women driving them were safe and sound in Ottawa.

Yeah, you know you did the same thing. Just admit it. ;)

A wave of nostalgia swept over me this week as I tidied this messy website. It was as if the Convoy to Ottawa were decades ago, not merely two months ago! So I've cherry-picked some great quotes, pictures and videos for you organized in chronological order.

It's incredible to watch the healing process of these men and women who went in peace to Ottawa as strangers and came back as family.

Their early post-Ottawa interviews are raw, traumatized, emotional, even difficult to watch. But time is the great healer and, in time, their smiles come back.

So many incredible stories of kindness came out of Ottawa. This video from Csaba's "Welcome Home" party includes just such a story of patriots on foot protecting the trucks from being towed in the dead of night. How did I miss this story until today!?!


Canada Has Not Yet Begun to Fight

If I have a chance to relive that three weeks that I spent in Ottawa,
even if I'm going to get a beating just like I get,

That's a sentiment repeated by Lenny Frey and other truckers: If they had to do it all over again, they would...in a heartbeat.

Ottawa changed everyone. Whether you were entrenched in a truck, jake braking and blowing your horn, or watching from thousands of miles away, it changed you profoundly. It is one of THE defining moments in life. As the meme said, "2022 is the new 1776."


The magic of Ottawa is that it never stopped. There are slow rolls and Freedom events every week, all over Canada.

Those truckers were willing to die for your Freedom. They were prepared to spill their blood on the pavement of Ottawa so you could live free. Without Freedom, how long will you be allowed to enjoy the lifestyle you're too wise or too prudent to risk by joining their movement? The truckers had just as much to lose as you...maybe even more.

As always, American Founding Father Patrick Henry said it best:

Is life so dear, or peace so sweet, as to be purchased
at the price of chains and slavery?
Forbid it, Almighty God!
I know not what course others may take;
but as for me, give me liberty or give me death!

Every time you see these truckers at Freedom events livestreamed by David of Live from the Shed, their smiles disguise the stress they must feel over looming court dates. The Crown is pushing for these valiant, innocent men to possibly spend years in jail for "standing on guard for thee." Please help them pay their legal fees. Thank you!
