#WalkAway: The Movement, The People, Possibly The Fastest Growing Group on Facebook

#WalkAway: If I had to describe the people who've chosen to #WalkAway from the Democratic Party only one word comes to mind: Americans. Quintessential melting pot. E pluribus unum. Out of many, one. Americans.

They are every ethnicity, every color, every religion, every nationality, every age, every gender, every sexuality. Many were born on foreign shores. They are gay, straight, bi, Black, White, Asian, Christian, atheist, Jewish, Muslim, clean cut, dread-locked, single, married, {insert any and every descriptor here.}

#WalkAway is just Americans but each story has the same spark. There was a moment when the scales fell from each one's eyes and they suddenly realized, "The Democratic Party and the Mainstream Media have been lying to me." That was the moment they discovered fire...and Walked Away.


You might say 1776 has commenced again, as Alex Jones famously yelled at Piers Morgan. Indeed it is a Declaration of Independence against a foreign power. There is no longer anything American about the Democratic Party. Oh, they go through the motions. Once every four years at the DNC they pay lip service to the Constitution and the Pledge of Allegiance (not under God). For some incomprehensible reason they talk long and loud about the original #WalkAway poster boy, Ronald Reagan, who famously said, "I didn't leave the Democratic Party. The party left me." It's still leaving its supporters.

They underestimate the American people. We're a nice, peace-loving, easy-going people so they trespassed on our good nature seeing us as as stupid "huddled masses" but they forgot the part about "yearning to breathe free." They pushed us too far. Everyone has a breaking point.

One of my favorite #WalkAway stories is about a Vietnam veteran, we'll call him Joe, who voted Democrat for sixty-two, count 'em, 62 years. But this year, when multi-millionaire Nancy Pelosi had the gall to ask him for money, Joe wrote back, "ZERO. Not supporting a Democrat Terrorist Group."

Last week, Joe who is nearly deaf from gunfire in Vietnam, was jumped by two males claiming to be with Black Lives Matter but, the police believe, actually with Antifa. They punched, knifed and told Joe, who is a suicide survivor, "Go kill yourself. All of U.S. troops should die."

That's when his son posted his story in the #WalkAway Facebook group, to encourage his  father during a difficult time. He ended the story, "I cannot wait for my dad to wake up in the morning and see all the love and support he is receiving...I'm pretty sure he will cry." There are 13,000 likes and 3,700 comments...to date.


It takes tremendous courage to #WalkAway. Those who take that step have lost family members, friends, even employment. But they have something even more precious: the Courage of their Convictions, their integrity and their self-respect. They are the new Continental Army each with their own personal Declaration of Independence. They have the battle wounds, the scars and unforgettable stories of bravery and sacrifice.

They are all "highly resolved...that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth."
