What A Lingerie Show With Mum Taught Me: The Cosmpolitan ' Fifty Shades' Lingerie Show

Freya,
WITH YOUR MUM? HOW AWKWARD!
Surprisingly, going to a lingerie show with you mother isn't actually as awkward as you'd expect. Even when you're from a pretty traditional family like my own.  Except the moment when you both find gold diamond 'sensual massagers' in your goody bags!! Eek!
It still doesn't sound like something you intentionally pencil into you diary, does it? Well, I did, and it was some of the best mother-daughter QT we''ve had. I'll keep you posted if any more dates pop-up;)

LINGERIE ISN'T ALL SEX AND BOUDOIR
Apparently, the wordlingeriederives from the French word 'linge' which meanslinen, and actually refers to all under garments worn by men or women.
However, in this day and age, lingerie is so sexed up that a lot of us may have forgotten that lingerieisn'tjustfor show, or for the bodies of Victoria’s Secret Angels, or for randy lovers.
LINGERIE IS FOR EVERYONE, FOR ANY OCCASION. It's for you, whenever you want it to be. And thankfully there are brands out there catering for any and every size.

EVERYONE LOOKS GOOD IN LINGERIE
Don't let the internet fool you. Everyone looks good in lingerie. You just have to pick the right thing for you, and most importantly, OWN IT.
My mother and I appreciated that showcased models up to size 12, and who weren't all 21 and under. It was refreshing to see. Sure there could have been more variety, considering brands likeBluebellastock sizes from 6 to 22..

OWN It!
My mother and I didn't agree on our favourite pieces. She was more about functionality, glam, and pieces that matched her personality (i.e. pieces from Freya, Very, and Wonderbra).
However, I preferredmore daring, provocative, and flirty pieces from brands such as Blubella, Pour Moi? and Coco De Mer.. However, I did fall in love with the ditsy floral print pieces by Freya.

Although we had different ideas about what we found appealing, sexy, or functional, we both knew that whatever we would chose we would own, because they were about how we wanted to feel. It's not about what's trending, but w
hat makes you feelhot.
LINGERIE AND YOUR BRAND OF FEMINinITY
I love lingerie, as you have probably guessed. For me, it's not about sexuality. It's about expression and confidence. When I wear what I love, I instantly become more confident - even if no one can see it.
For me, lingerie encourages women to discover their femininity in all it's splendour and glorious shades and varieties.– all facets of it. Femininity is multi-dimensional, and means more than boobs and other lady lumps. It’s the softness and sensuality, the boldness and strength, and the emotional expression and resilience we know is in every woman - the contradictions that make women unique and powerful.
That's why I enjoyed Cosmopolitan’s Lingerie Fashion Show at The Bloomsbury Ballroom, because it allowed us to see that femninity, sexuality, and sensuality come in many different packages.

So take some time to discover what makes you feel incredible. It might just end up being cotton boxers and no bra - that would be your choice to make.
DO THE RIGHT THING
Before the show,CoppaFeel, reminding us their#BraHijackoperation, and the importance of checking our breasts regularly for changes. They also encouraged us to write a message to our boobs, letting them know what we love about them most, because they are as unique as we are.
Remember to check your breast regularly. Cancer doesn’t discriminate on age, gender, or lifestyle.
The message of the night was clear. Love your body,  Find what works for you, and Make it work.
